RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Could you explain? I googled his name and found out that he is a local lawyer.
His firm sponsored the power play last year - "It's an E. Stewart Jones power play for the Engineers!", etc.

Edit: Fishcore12 beat me to it.

Sponsored the power play last year. It was the E. Stewart Jones Power Play. Had a clever video showed in between periods with Coach Appert wishing the team luck.

In honor of Eleeza Cox, today is 4 October 2012. There are 2 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 6 October for the start of next season.

That is the day that an exhibition game is scheduled.

A very prominent trial law firm founded in 1800s...his father was practicing before you were born I think:p....

Could this be why Alex Dell doesn't do our games any longer? Or is Paul Stewart still ****ed that RPI won game 1 back in 2009?

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Think we can do 350 posts in 2 days? :D

But we need more than that. :p

We did have a pretty good day here yesterday -- but not that good.

If we could only get the off-topic posts from the recruit thread brought here ...

You mean like the one you just made? ;)

They hit "Stew" up for more than that -- he owned the back cover of the game program and a coupla dasher board ads, in addition to the privilege of sponsoring the PP and the pregame video with our great coach....:D Great sales job by Sachi Ena !!

I remember the ads now, but up in the pep band I never see game programs. :o

Sometimes it doesn't even have to show up in the box score so much-often times just having good special teams can alter the style of game and how the opposition is forced to play.

especially if it tires them out more than it tires you out so that they make sloppy mental mistakes or just don't have that extra gear at the one moment it's needed most.

Having good special teams can affect so many aspects of a hockey game. Some obvious and some not so obvious. If having a potent power play allows you to score first more often for example-it is very different for some teams to play from behind early. I think this kind of thing becomes so much more important at the NCAA level. At the NHL level everyone is just so darn good-mistakes so few-that a penalty here and there may not decide a game. But down several levels-like in Division I play-the defensemen and goalies are just not any where near that perfect and penalty play can be much more significant.

It can also have the effect of making teams that traditionally play very physically be more tentative, for fear of putting a high octane power play on the ice as the result of going 100% in the corners.

Absolutely. There are a bunch of things it does that never show up in the box score-until you count wins and losses. It is not just a simple statistic of how many power play goals are scored or how many are scored against. It is a huge part of the game.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

If I folks are thinking about it, I just purchased tickets online for the RPI game at the D.O.T. bunker on 11/3/12. Can't believe I'm going to again re-enter the building that I continually swear I'll never return to...that's the price of loyalty. :D Tix are $12.00 each

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

The main thing that a potent power play should do is drive momentum. And yet in the recent past, even when we scored on a power play we could not push forward.
We need a whole new mindset for our offensive game.
For the most part, I think we lacked confidence in our offense.
We have to come out much better this year. A good start could go a long way to a positive attitude. (Exhibition games don't count).
Lets play some hockey!!!!!
