RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Good to know the safety band tradition stuck. :D

That's too bad things changed, as I really liked that open area. It was right at the vertex where the ceiling met the wall, so it created an incredible bandshell. Granted, the acoustics in a salt barn aren't going to be anything like Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, but it was one of the best places, from an acoustical projection standpoint, where I've played with the band.

I'm sure they much prefer having us stuck at the very bottom below the glass rather than somewhere we can project. All I can say is trying to fit musical instruments and stands in Messa's bleachers is not a very successful task, and playing Children of Sanchez there makes me feel like the the building's going to come down.

And yeah, Colgate's trip to Union was during their spring break so we played with their band, it was a lot of fun!

You know you like it. :p

The inspiration came from Match Game. I remember the stars complaining once about the top row of lights being out, but the Arabic representation of the number of matches made was OK. There was also a partial inspiration from Ralph, as that's how he designates when the other team scores.

2-0 rpi

Yes, they can lengthen the benches. I expect each goalie to play one period.

OFFICIALS: The officials for the game are Bryan Hicks and Will Harrop (referees) and Dan Taggart and Matt Brady (linesmen).

My "test" today will be warming up my vocal cords to boo :p

I still remember the BU game where it was announced about half a week prior that Hicks would work the game; I don't think I've seen section 33 THAT ready to riot when the game wasn't even taking place... ...at least until the unfortunate Cornell incident (and I STILL have my towel; I did NOT throw it).

Wasn't he assisted by the dude that took the face-off? Or did Providence "win" that draw?

1985 Flashback. We had a great view of the face off. Although i was totally blitzed on Vodka and some could question the clarity of my vision-there was no question that the refs could have made a call and didn't. But if you carefully watched the entire game-there were many other instances of missed calls and some that were questionable. 27 years later, looking back-we won and I can live with the result.:D
If there is something that should be questioned however, it is the penalty calls at the end of the OT in the semifinals that gave us a much appreciated power play which of course resulted in the winning goal. ;)

New addition at HFH. On the East end (formerly where the band was) a banner hangs in recognition of Adam Oates' HOH honors. There's a picture of Adam from his RPI days & one in a Washington uniform. Quite large actually.

Pretty stupid butt with the stick on Langevin by the UMD player that started it all. Looks like the pp was deserved even though it was missed it evened out. After Carter's goal the RPI radio guy had the best line ever thanking his parents for having him. Could have been half a dozen more penalties called on providence in the finals. I think that pp goal they scored was the only one given up in the playoffs by Puppa.
