RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

So, after not having left my cave for the past three or four weeks, I thinkthere may be a chance that everything won't crash in a giant fireball today. As always, there are still a million things left to do, but that seems to always be the case. So, here is the link for tonight's hockey game. http://www.rpitv.org/productions/485-mens-hockey-vs-acadia. We are also streaming the football game as well, here http://www.rpitv.org/productions/483-football-vs-st-lawrence. I am really excited to see how many people end up watching, and the more the merrier. Enjoy!

Someone start a season thread REAL soon; I do NOT want to once again be responsible for a losing streak.

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

I received my tickets for Friday's game and will be attending the tail gate party. Having never attended one of these before, I have no idea what to bring other than my own drinks along with some extra to share.
Any suggestions
Looking forward to seeing all of you and getting the season off with a bang. :D

Check out the pole and see what things we still need. Pick from that.

Are you guys doing a chat room at the same time? I know you had that for the last football game, but don't see one here.

I pushed out a massive update last night, and I haven't gotten arround to fixing a few things. Hopefully by this evening I should have something ready to go.

New addition at HFH. On the East end (formerly where the band was) a banner hangs in recognition of Adam Oates' HOH honors. There's a picture of Adam from his RPI days & one in a Washington uniform. Quite large actually.

Perhaps a special appearance in the near future? I would imagine he doesn't have much going on with the Capitals these days.

Not with the Caps but he is assisting with the coaching duties with Hershey in the "A".

Re: 2-0 rpi

For the football fans-at the half it is RPI 25 and SLU 7. RPI missed a couple of other chances to score and could easily have had more points. RPI TV doing a fantastic job-spoiling me. This is so incredibly better than past years there is really no comparison. If hockey broadcasts are this good-my gosh!

Two things I haven't seen in a while, if ever: an 88-yard QB draw for a touchdown, and a safety scored by the offense.

I recognize Kurt Stutt's voice on the play by play, but who is doing the color? His voice sounds familiar, but I can't place him.

FDude-I don't think I could run 88 yards-perhaps ever. No wonder some pro teams have shown interest in our QB. Today over 600 yards of total offense for the boys. SLU is not a tough opponent but we have to take all our wins when we can get them. We get the Springfield/Hobart/Union toughies coming up soon. Nothing will be easy after today.

Re: 2-0 rpi

1985 Flashback. We had a great view of the face off. Although i was totally blitzed on Vodka and some could question the clarity of my vision-there was no question that the refs could have made a call and didn't. But if you carefully watched the entire game-there were many other instances of missed calls and some that were questionable. 27 years later, looking back-we won and I can live with the result.:D
If there is something that should be questioned however, it is the penalty calls at the end of the OT in the semifinals that gave us a much appreciated power play which of course resulted in the winning goal. ;)

And back then we had a power play unit that knew what to do with the opportunity.

FlagDude is determined to make this more complicated than it needs to be. EHF: bring whatever you wish...there's no one in charge and there are no rules. I'm getting a good response from parents of players so this is going to be fun!

I'm stunned! You cannot possibly be old enough to remember Pearl (the Hostess with the Mostess and I believe the Ambassador to Luxembourg). If you are, then you sure don't show it and I want to know who your plastic surgeon is.

As we speak, two pork butts are better than halfway thru their 16 hour spiced rubbed, smoke-filled slumber on my smoker....:D

Re: RPI Off-Season Thread 2012 Part III: BYOB: Bring Your Own Bratwurst

For those who might be interested-The tickets for RPI/Princeton at Baker Rink 1/12/13 went on sale this morning at midnight. I do not expect there to be any problems getting tickets at all. The support for Princeton hockey is at best mediocre even when they are a contending team and this year with most predicting them to finish rather low in the standings, it is doubtful that the rink will fill up for anything other than perhaps Harvard and Cornell. We have been to virtually every game there involving RPI for 37 years and most years RPI fans outnumber the locals. For those interested-go here- http://www.goprincetontigers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=10600&ATCLID=652804 A word of advice-try not to get tickets in the upper deck behind the goal. The Princeton band is there most games and can be quite annoying. And dress incredibly warm. It is often colder in the rink than outside and this game is in the heart of winter.

She died in 1975...her name was used frequently and with much sarcasm by my family...I'm 52 (my ego is too large to be timid about age!!! Hhahaha!!):D
