RPI 2024 Off-Season: Was 2023 – 2024 Just a Bad Dream?

How we handle the ECAC schedule in my opinion will come down to defense and Watson. Limiting shot attempts and getting more aggressive on D. Too many times, Watson was hung out to dry. A healthy Watson who puts up freshman year-like numbers will go a long way. We know he's capable. If he can find consistency and the D can pull it together, then there are reasons for optimism. Offense is another story for another time.

Last season, facing BC, Maine, and Providence all on the road to start seemed asking a bit much of this team. And then two vs. Northeastern at HFH over the Thanksgiving break. This season, with Mercyhurst, Niagara, and Canisius, the bar has been set considerably lower. There is UNH in late December, and the exhibition vs UMass, but I'd like to see more balance in the OOC portion of the schedule. Maybe getting a perennial NCAA contender on the schedule (BC, BU, or PC) each season, if possible, and then couple of teams from Atlantic Hockey.

I agree. Our OOC schedule has been greatly fluctuating the last few years. In 2022-23 it was easy. last year it was hard. Now it is back to easy again. This seems weird to me although this schedule is probably not quite as easy as it was two years ago.. The comment by RPI Hockey Guy could be correct, namely that Coach Smith was given an ultimatum. I am surprised that we have been able to schedule these changes from year to year.

From numerous posts on eLynah: Mike Schafer is retiring from coaching at Cornell after the upcoming season. Casey Jones is being brought in now from Clarkson to be the head coach in a year.

Casey Jones.

Isn't he the guy who just led Clarkson to a first-round playoff loss to the (ahem) twelfth-place team? :)

All of this talk about EVs is correct and absurd at the same time.
I am sure that the talk was very similar to that of the first auto, the first commercial airplane and anything else that was new.
Most of us on this board will not be around when they perfect it, but it will be perfected and used by almost all of the driving public at some time.
Until then, you won't see me in any of them.
A more measured and correct view of things. Lots of old man ranting going on in this forum!

Like many here I suspect, my family owns several cars. Each has a purpose. I don't have an EV because I still prefer to drive a stick. It's way more fun and I think a better option when it is snowing out. My wife drives a plug-in hybrid which I think is the present sweet spot in the industry, although most of the hype is for full EV. It has a 35 mile electric range and charges overnight in a standard 15 amp socket. She works about 2 miles from home. She rarely fills the car up with gas other than when we decide to take it on a long trip.

Driving a stick - virtually a lost art these days in this country. Both Jenny and i thought we were the last of that dying breed. Although not as much fun in the horrible NJ traffic, neither of us are ready to give it up.

Latvian Center Rainers Rullers has committed. 25 points in Madison last year

I guess that means the Latvian flag will be on display at the Field House.

According to Wikipedia, the Latvian flag is carmine red, or Latvian red, with a white horizontal stripe. The red color is a particularly dark shade, which is composed of brown and purple.

Not exactly cherry and white, but it's in the ballpark.

Perhaps Bing Cherry?
