Not anything I would be interested in. Far too many negatives and unanswered questions yet for me. Was thinking about what the market will be for a used EV about 5-10 years down the road and what you could expect to either sell one for or trade in. Not sure many folks want to take on an old battery that costs quite a bit to replace and one that may not be readily available if needed.
Not sure if it was mentioned here but RPI will host Maine 11/30-12/1
I completely agree Doc. I did a quick check and you can buy a used 2023 Tesla Model 3 for around $25k. The new price varies depending on the battery size (range) but it looks a nicely equipped model starting around $38k. So roughly 1/3 depreciation in year 1........no thanks!

@ Canisius 10/11 & 10/12

I know Dave came from Canisius and they are undoubtedly easy to schedule, so I’m not surprised we seem to play them more than Siena does (and they are both in the MAAC). However, isn’t this the third year in a row for us on the road? No one likes Buffalo that much. I see they also have Michigan State in for a weekend. What’s the draw to play in front of about 1,000 fans? Free Bills or Sabres tickets for the visitors?
The depreciation is worse for the non-Tesla market. One website that tracks found that Used EV prices have dropped 47% from the fall of 2022.
If things couldn’t get any more bizarre with RPI hockey rumors are women’s assistant coach Ben Murphy heading to Dartmouth joining Reid Cashman’s staff. I guess we didn’t need him on the mens side? We have better assistants on the women’s side then men’s side apparently lol
The chicken wings are usually pretty good.

Opening in Troy vs. Wisconsin-La Crosse!
I apologize of this is old news.
As a toy or in certain very limited circumstances these EV's can make some sense but for most of us, our driving needs and habits just make them a rather poor choice. i wonder what the effect of the salt used on the roads to help melt the ice and snow in Troy does to the battery underneath an EV? We know all too well what salt water can do as a close friend in Florida lost his Tesla to an incredibly hot fire after sea water flooded his neighborhood during a coastal storm.
For D3 that’s a big time opponent. They’ve been in the tournament a number of times. However, I think the first time I ever heard of the school was 30-40 years ago when they were the camp site for the New Orleans Saints. It’s a lot nicer for July & August training in Wisconsin than Louisiana.
According to members of a local volunteer fire company, you don't need as much as a coastal storm with salt water nor road salt to set these stupid things off. It appears normal operation can do it by itself.
As the driver later told them, he did not have much time to spare to bring the thing to a stop and get the hell out. That is how quickly the fire spread and how quickly the entire thing was ablaze. I will take a wild guess the guy took his insurance check and put it toward a new good old fashioned internal combustion engine.
The volunteers claim that it took multiple attempts before they could knock down what was an extremely intense blaze by the time they got there. Every time they though they extinguished the fire, the damned thing reignited as if they had done absolutely nothing. Eventually, they ended up just standing there for quite some time with hoses pointed at the ready waiting to see if the thing was going to go off again, but alas, it finally apparently burned everything it could burn and did not reignite.
They claim their water usage to kill this thing was 10,000 gallons. Common sense tells you there must have also been some of that foamy stuff involved that these guys use on electric or combustible liquids fires.
To put all of this in perspective, not including the outdoor hose which is still connected to my home's original well, my last two city water bills for internal water usage covering the period 7/31/2023 to 3/31/2024 (8 months) added up to 10,000 gallons.
Conclusion: Me thinks there is no more chance of me ever getting in to one of these asinine contraptions than there is of me booking a seat on the next scheduled dive of the replacement Titan sub.
All of this talk about EVs is correct and absurd at the same time.
I am sure that the talk was very similar to that of the first auto, the first commercial airplane and anything else that was new.
Most of us on this board will not be around when they perfect it, but it will be perfected and used by almost all of the driving public at some time.
Until then, you won't see me in any of them.
