RPI 2024 Off-Season: Was 2023 – 2024 Just a Bad Dream?

Essentially yes. We may see an extra player or two enter (the deadline was for submitting the request to the school, not for being in the portal), but that's it for getting in. Players can continue to sign, but at this point it doesn't appear likely we will add anyone else.

Well, the good news is that virtually all of our team is returning. The bad news is...... Just kidding. We didn't score enough last year but the biggest problem was we gave up far too many goals. I can't remember how many times I screamed at the screen (only saw one game here in CT and the Freakout in person) while a forward cruised between the circles or below unmarked. Or someone was constantly open on the backdoor. I'm not one that believes just anyone can play defense, but I am one to believe a reasonably talented athlete and skater with a defensive mindset should do an awful lot better than we saw. I still think Watson has the talent to take us places, but not if he's constantly left exposed. It's now up to the coaches and captains to drill in that defensive mentality. After we develop confidence from the net out, it's much easier to push the puck and get aggressive on offense. That's what we saw in 19-20 and we haven't seen it since.

Well, ain't that a heck of a question! I bet that law firm, the one run by E. Stewart Jones, was just trying to show off how good they are at defending their clients and sponsoring that power play thingamajig seems like a smart way to get attention. After all capitalizing on the other team's mistakes is a big part of a power play, right? Just like how a slick defense lawyer will jump on any hole in the prosecutor's story. But I guess ol Jones didn't wanna seem like he's always on the losing side, so he probably stayed away from sponsoring no penalty kill. Ha! But hey, what do I know? I'm just speculating here. Still its an interesting thing for a law firm to spend money on. At the end of the day, they just want folks to remember their name if they ever get into legal trouble.

And I reckon sponsoring some hockey might just do the trick!
 
I would think a good sponsor for a hockey team might be a dentist or a cosmetic surgeon. Although with the use of all the protective shields and cages these days, there is far less work needing to be done.

One of my colleagues - but not a close friend - used to sit right behind the team. I assumed he was the team dentist but have never been sure of that. I have a bit of respect for dentists. It is a hard job. I brush and floss a dentist on a regular basis. I shave him every morning too. :o;)
