RPI 2022 Off-season: Surely, We Deserve Better

Today is 25 August 2022. There are 37 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 1 October 2022 for the start of next season.

tony/troy, FWIW, I wrote the women's coordinator back on Aug. 5. Finally got a reply on Aug. 23. I was asking about the upcoming family women's hockey weekend (sept. 17/18), specifically if non-vax family members will be allowed inside the rink to watch the game and/or to participate the scheduled outdoor BBQ. Here was my reply:

Apologies for the late response on your question, I wanted to ensure I was giving you the most updated information regarding the school's COVID Policies before answering. Please see the below email from our new president outlining the changes to COVID policies on campus and it should answer your questions. As I understand it, moving forward non-vaccinated guests will have to provide a negative test within 48 hours of arriving to campus and masking will be dependent on the CDC classification of the area, I hope this answers your question and if there is anything else I can do for you please don't hesitate to ask!

And then it was a lengthy email from Marty, with a link to the updated covid rules. To be fair, I suppose he was waiting for the new, updated official rules. Didn't want to answer wrong, I get it. But in the meantime, how were we to know if we'd be allowed inside or not, and whether or not to purchase airfare, and potentially just sit and watch those prices rise? We took our chances and bought the plane tickets right away anyway. We haven't seen our daughter for two years at a game. (she's a junior now)

My rambling point - I guess those of us non-vax should be prepared with a negative test to go to the games. I shall update after that weekend to share how it all went down, regarding proof of test and whatnot.

Nope - We're probably not in the top 75... It's just the sum of followers on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

I think the fact that rpiathletics.com aggregates all the socials and of course, we know all the real RPI Hockey Info is on the USCHO Fan boards. So who needs to follow on the sites?

Thanks for the research. I am quite surprised. I follow on Instagram and Twitter and don't have a Facebook account.

I wasn't able to attend. I'm told the mood of the players was positive, the pizza was plentiful and the fans weren't. The early bunch of home games was intentional to entice the faithful back into their splintered wooden seats. Scott did a write-up.... but I don't have the key to the pay wall.

Edit: I failed to mention that McElroy missed the opportunity to announce his overdue retirement at the gathering...:)

I have not gotten any real details of the meet and greet yesterday, but I do know that there was no access / vax / mask nonsense involved in the event.
