Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

I have the feeling that Higgs will mainly be used in a checking roll like Watts and Malchuk have been used.

And Tinordi will be fighting for ice time?

I'm not being a jerk asking that, I'm asking honestly on your opinion. :)

I indeed think that Tinordi will be fighting for ice time. Laliberte seems to be the only forward recruit who is essentially guaranteed a spot. We are losing only two forward (Kerins and Vassel) and only one was a regular. There will be a lot of competition, and SA said that he likes that.

I do think that if either Tinordi or G. Burgdoerfer (or Smith too) shows talent, there will be place for them. We do need size.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

Can you imagine what the other ECAC teams will have to do next year to stop him? They will have to draw up entirely new defenses and line changes...

If JL makes it to Troy, it won't much matter who our opponents throw over the boards...they are going to have their hands full!:D

Agree on both counts. I think almost everyone except Pirri, D/Amigo and Polacek will be fighting for ice time but I agree that one of the big fellows gets his chance to park in front of the net. I look at this past year as just a prelude to what we will see next year. If everyone shows up-we should have an extremely potent offense. My only concern is can the defense be counted on to provide York with enough coverage so that he sees less quality shots against him than he did this year. I was not at all kidding with my last most about a possible NCAA bid-I just have this exciting feeling that this team is on the verge of an exceptional year. :D

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

Yes he had an injury. The question is how well has he recovered. IIRC we only found out that Kevin Broad had a serious back injury after he graduated.

Now I am truly getting off topic. :(

We aren't often privy to medical reports on our guys but I saw enough of Helfrich play both in person and on the Ustream feeeds to know that he was definitely nursing something most of the year. As you said we found out about Broad post graduation-similar to the back injury to Bryan Tapper in the 90's. No one knew nothing for a couple years.

Re: RPI 2010 Recruiting III: Monty's Quest for the Holy Grail

On Saturday, the Penticton Vees lost to the Vernon Vipers 3-2 in overtime. Luke Curadi had an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. (It is missing in the totals at the bottom of the boxscore at the moment.) Penticton trails in the best-of-seven playoff series 2-0. http://www.bchl.ca/leagues/hockey_boxScores.cfm?clientID=1413&leagueID=2393&gameID=808963

Curadi's line is now 12-0-1-1-20.
His total is 70-7-11-18-118.
