I suspect that QU would be interested if HEA wanted them. As to RPI moving its whole athletic program up to D-I that would change everything. It has come up before, primarily when the drop-scholarships-for-playup-schools referendum was considered. There was a rumor, never confirmed, that RPI and JHU were going to join the Patriot League if that were to happen. IMO, that still represents the best choice at the D-I level, but I don't see it happening. There are three members playing D-I hockey; Colgate, Army, and Holy Cross.
Im happy being in the ECAC but wouldnt be upset at all if HE comes a calling. A couple years ago I recall reading an article where HE expressed some interest in bringing the league up to 12 teams from the 10 they have now and I always thought us and Q would be nice additions. However, I really cant see RPI switching hockey conferences unless the school decides to bring its entire athletic department up to the D1 level.
