Ralph, can I find out who the refs were last night? In advance, I apologize for asking you a question, I know that you don't like when I do that.
The game notes from this weekend. Page 3.
"The referees for the game are Eric Ernst and Nick Litterio ... The linesmen are Brett Reed and Joe Testa."
Thanks B12. You are a fine American. I never realized that was on RPI website. God bless.
Hey, WS, isn't that misplaced vengeance?. I couldn't get any accounts of the called off goals. Were they legit calls?
The WRPi broadcast indicate that it was JFK who whiffed on the clear which led to the goal. I'm not gonna hang him out ... I flat out love the guy... he must've blocked 5 shots last night. FWIW, the D also failed twice to clear the puck vs. U in LP...which led to the tying goal.I hate complaining about the refs but we have had some dangerous hits against us with no calls this season-two occuring last night. Helfrich got hit from behind and Kennedy from behind into the boards. Several others that were definately penalties that should have been called-maybe both ways although I didn't see any from us. If you are going to put way the whistle for the entire 3rd period then don't take it out on two calls in the final minutes-one each way. If there was an actual penalty on RPI in the final minute they called the wrong guy. I won't name who our player was because there wasn't even a call to be made but it wasn't Polacek. Finally we had three guys up at the point leaving only Brutlag back-this iis the 2nd time we have left one side of the ice open that resulted in goals this season. Bailen needs to look for the pass more-many times there are openings he isn't dishing to.
Another proud moment for Mr's Hagwell and Stewart. The do nothing group ! OHHHHH I forgot Mr.Hagwell did move the league tournament to the Hockey crazy town of Atlantic City (maybe He's like the US Congress,we're better off when He doesn't do anything) I guess to make it more convient for everyone...he said it was a better deal...FOR WHO ?...Is it just me or should he start explaining his decesions, non decesions and inactions to the ticket buying public or do we need a ECACHL Tea Party...Just a thought.I hate complaining about the refs but we have had some dangerous hits against us with no calls this season-two occuring last night. I hope that Penn starts a team and we move to Atlantic Hockey.

You could always go the we-never-should-have-fired-Adessa route and demand that we move to Hockey Rast.![]()
That's more likely than the AHA, but I think that neither is likely. Our principal rivals are ECAC schools. We have little in common with the state and church-sponsored HEA schools which doesn't leave that much else there, just BU and NU.

When the HEA teams left the ECAC, we were at the top of the league, and I had mixed feelings about whether we should leave. On one hand CCT and SLU were our principal rivals, and on the other hand, I thought (correctly) that in the long run the HEA would be the better league. When it came up again under Powers, I was more to staying in the ECAC. Although I can see advantages to moving to HEA, I am now for the status quo. Maybe it is indeed old age.I hope we stay where we are-I am too old to adapt to a whole new league. Not sure if I would even know which teams to hate more than the others.
The best option for "RPI the hockey team" can be different than the best option for "RPI the university". That has always been the case, and it seems to be the crux of the matter.I agree with you 100%. I would much rather look forward to playing our current ECAC rivals (whether ivy or non-ivy) than to move to another league. Granted I am utopian in thought, which means the best option for RPI may be against my thoughts.
DrD, Clarkson and other non-ivies would join us in AH. we could play same team back to back nights which would create great hockey. Just saying.
BTW FD08 - We would have seen some great hockey if we went to HE. I for one would have loved it. Maine, BC, BU, etc. Yea, that would have been great.
The first goal was batted in by Rabbani and the RPI radio account indicated that it was indeed high sticking, and the second goal was a scrum in front with the play whistled dead before the puck went in (at least that was the call, as H has no video replay).
As for the two penalties in third - one against H and the back breaker against RPI (Polacek) with less than a minute to play - both appeared to be phantom calls according to eyewitness accounts.
The WRPI broadcast had only one man in the booth, so they were unable to shed any light on the Polacek call which was well behind the play.![]()
