RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

I agree two excellant games tween RIT and EC. Should have, could have been a sweep by EC save for a late goal by the Tigers to tie in game 1, while OT solved nuthin.

I must say the RIT campus is a beauty. Ritter is a great barn, except for the gigantic windows at one end which oddly enough the opposing goalie faces twice. I mean if your going to put windows in an arena ...at least have the common sense to put them on the sides. Sheesh! Note to American Arena Architecs, hockey is not meant to be played in an aquarium.

And what`s with the freakin horn...the thing goes off when a RIT shot hits the crossbar and goes forty feet in the air, everybody stops while the puck eventually lands three feet in front of the EC goalie. Good thing EC got possession and cleared the puck cause if that biscuit would have been batted in...all hell would have broken loose.

I`ll save my thoughts on Tony the Tiger and his bazooka like air gun he uses to shoot RIT T-Shirts into the crowd for another post...but him and I almost came to blows...Thanks be to god that 2 for Chirping and Fireman 1 are OK!

Now come on RIT Go and sweep those Cardinals will ya!

The horn was an accident, I gave him a hard time about it after the game. The guy who did the Saturday isn't the usual DJ for RIT games and he bumped the horn. Honest mistake.

What's so wrong with Ritchie firing T-shirts? The Elmira fans were cheering so he delivered. If you don't want the opposing team's t-shirts, don't cheer for them. No reason to be an a-hole to the mascot for doing what they're supposed to.

Hey..Hey easy Pal. The only reason Ritchie or Tony or whatever his name is was firing the things at Elmira was because the EC crowd outnumbered the RIT crowd by about 3 to 1. I was kinda joking cause we figured he was trying to pick a few of our parents off with head shots. I took one right in the chest and Fireman 1 had one wizz right by his head. Do not flatter yourself...I can assure you no one from the EC side wants an orange RIT T-shirt...we will take the 3 points however.

Sorry, didn't realize you weren't all that serious. I'm just a little defensive because I'm friends with the student behind the suit. You guys did have a lot of fans there and I enjoyed that Elmira travels well. I do wish we could get better turnouts for our Women's games. We have in the past when we promote them, but promotions budgets got cut all around this year so it only happens if we the students decide to do it on our own dime.

You should have brought the shirts over, I could use a full set to wear every day of the week. :o :D

and good for you. Short of the head shots :) I thought the Corner Crew and the mascot were Saaweet, very well done! Now like I said... get after those Cardinals...

We did our best this weekend. Having two men's games at home really killed most of us. I personally have no voice right now and my hands are blistered from wailing on the box, but someone's gotta do it.

Your goaltender, Sullivan, has some skills btw. She's going to be hard to beat in coming years. We're hoping King will be able to fill that role for us.

I think reviewing the tape of these two games will go a long way towards helping us against the Cards. I'm sure our girls will try their best.

She's got awfully large skates to fill from Cubberley. Not saying she can't. And I haven't seen her play yet this year but Cubberley and Racine were two of the all-time best D-III has seen.

I only saw Cubberley play at the end of her college career and she was outstanding but wonder if she went 8-1-1 with a 1.28 GGA and .937 save percentage thru her first 10 games in her freshman year. Pretty impressive given the EC sched to date.

I went ahead and looked it up, just for the hell of it.

And for those of you who may not be aware...Racine is currently a coach and recruiter with the Big Red....AKA Cornell.

I actually wasn't even aware of that. Thanks for the heads up OnMAA!

Good for Edith. She was a great goaltender and a great person. Glad to see she is still involved with hockey.

I know a lot of members of that initial Elmira class of 2005 have gone on to very successful careers in and out of hockey.

Sadlym one never got the chance to blossom after college.

RIP Laura Hurd #4

In my heart forever.:(

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Best leave it at that. Im sure the RIT faithful are about as interested in the EC goalies percentages as I am in wearing one of those orange T shirts...

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Even though we only got a point out of it I think we were a lot closer than last year.

"Tony the Tiger" at RIT??. Must be an imposter. The "Tony the Tiger" we all know is the most loyal BC fan.

I'll talk about anything hockey. Doesn't matter to me. I like to learn about other teams. Besides, college is where players grow. Who knows where you could run in to a familiar name later on.

The scores would certainly lead you to believe that.

Elmira has been playing some good hockey since 2010 started and the Tigers took them right to the wire both nights and outshot them both nights too.

It really is a coin flip between RIT-Platty-Elmira. Plattsburgh has the big advantage with the sweep of the Soaring Eagles but still a lot of hockey left to be played.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

My thoughts on the weekend:

  • Saturday was the better of the 2 games
  • Elmira some how can get in the way of shots(probably about 2/3 of the shots never made it to Sullivan on Sunday)
  • RIT came out flat in the 3rd on Sunday, if RIT tied it they would of gotten a point the really didn't deserve to get
  • Sullivan will be a top goalie

Going off of the play this weekend I'm not sure if RIT can beat or tie Platty. I would really like for them to prove me wrong.

OMG...Now this is rich...complaints about arenas from an Elmira fan!!???

Hahaha...EC offers up one of the biggest dumps in hockey...and you criticize RIT??? haha...that's PRICELESS!! Elmira Crapdome offers nothing but shadows, dirty asbestos covered ceilings, crap seating, and a building better suited for storing road salt for the Ministry of Transportation. Good one! You just made my day.

There are plenty of crappy rinks to go around in women's hockey. I love to see windows in rinks (even if they are in the wrong place). One of my favorite rinks is in Evansville IN. It probably has the best daylight lighting (I can't say I've ever been at this facility at night) I've ever seen. Click the 3rd thumbnail on this link from the architect site...

Now if they would only get women's hockey in that part of the country...

Seymore...your back! Haven't heard from you since you embarrassed yourself on the Panther/Cardinal Classic call. Good to have you back...thought maybe you jumped off the edge.

Again however you are putting your mouth in gear when your minds in neutral...ya didn't see the part where I said Ritter was a great barn?

I suspect as usual the main reason you unload on the Domes is because you can't win there. Kinda childish if you ask me...right up there with your uniform critique.
