RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Haven't played in a while so there wasn't really much to talk about.

You will be hungry for some game action then. In all seriousness both teams desperatley need the points. Should make for a great two game set.

A number of Canadians coming down (from both teams) any good eateries or pubs around the RIT Inn?

I'm not aware of any places near the Inn. Its a few miles away from school. TC Riley's (on campus @ Park Point) is usually good. If you want to try a Rochester "delicacy" I suggest you stop at Henrietta Hots (near Southtown Plaza and Marketplace Mall) for a garbage plate. Chipotle (on Jefferson Rd.) has some awesome burritos. If you really want an adventure check out Dinosaur BBQ in Downtown Rochester...it is a ways away from school but always a good choice.

Woody's II is a nice sports bar with a seating area. Food is awesome (especially their wings) but it can be a little slow.

I know MacGregor's on Jefferson is a huge favorite around here.

If you're feeling adventurous, Jeremiah's Tavern on Monroe ave is good.

Or for some local flavor, Henrietta Hots (not a bar) but you can get some garbage plates. mmmmm

Oh and Tully's over on Jefferson east of 15A is good too.

Mrs. Fighting just piped up and asked if there was a recomended Mall...go figure.

Haha!

There's a real art to spousal, etc., designation on these boards. Well done!

If I were your tag, my wife might be 2&10 ~ direct and to the point (and gone) ...

maybe "oh*mom*no!"

Enjoy the games.

When we were in the area for Bauer/Fire tournament earlier this year, we stumbled across a local Irish bar in the Rochester burbs with a nice local microbrew selection ... makes me think that if you keep your eyes open, there are opportunities to be found where you may least expect it.

Great Thanks.

I'm not generally a mall guy, but the Marketplace Mall is close by. Or you could make the trip down the 90 to Victor and go to the Eastview mall, which is the premier mall of Western, NY. LOTS of stores there.

Thanks she'll be stoked. I'm not much of a mall rat either. Now if I can find a mall with a pub in it...that's heaven.

Theres tons of stores nearby school as well. Probably no reason to go to Victor.

This weekend looks like the Soaring Eagles last stand. They trail Plattsburgh by 4 points, and although the Cardinals have to play Utica and RIT, it looks like a long shot for Elmira to finish better than second without a sweep.

Yup...duly noted and they are on the road yet again.

After RIT scored Elmira went in to lockdown and completely took away the middle of the ice. Major props to Elmira on the weekend, they are definitely the better team. I think RIT has the talent to beat them, the coaches just need to find a way to get around Elmira's defensive scheme.

I enjoyed watching two close games this weekend. Much preferred to blow outs, and very much an indicator of what we could see in the playoffs.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

I agree two excellant games tween RIT and EC. Should have, could have been a sweep by EC save for a late goal by the Tigers to tie in game 1, while OT solved nuthin.

I must say the RIT campus is a beauty. Ritter is a great barn, except for the gigantic windows at one end which oddly enough the opposing goalie faces twice. I mean if your going to put windows in an arena ...at least have the common sense to put them on the sides. Sheesh! Note to American Arena Architecs, hockey is not meant to be played in an aquarium.

And what`s with the freakin horn...the thing goes off when a RIT shot hits the crossbar and goes forty feet in the air, everybody stops while the puck eventually lands three feet in front of the EC goalie. Good thing EC got possession and cleared the puck cause if that biscuit would have been batted in...all hell would have broken loose.

I`ll save my thoughts on Tony the Tiger and his bazooka like air gun he uses to shoot RIT T-Shirts into the crowd for another post...but him and I almost came to blows...Thanks be to god that 2 for Chirping and Fireman 1 are OK!

Now come on RIT Go and sweep those Cardinals will ya!

For the RIT Men's games, our goalie faces that window twice...granted, those games at pretty much at 7pm so the sun isn't shining. Come to think of it, the sun doesnt shine too often in Rochester so it usually isnt an issue.

...yeaa, that was a DJ mistake. The DJ controls the horn and must have gotten trigger happy. I agree with you though. I wouldn't have felt right if RIT had scored on that after the horn went off.
