RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

No, I'm just glad I dont have to endure any more trips to nowhere to watch a game in a semi-dark haz mat museum. But YOU have fun.

That's great news! You won't be the only one that's happy. We don't want any nobodies in nowhere.

As far as having fun...don't you worry we will. Winning's always fun.

The Men's and Women's RIT hockey teams are teaming up and going PINK.
Should be a great day, and a fun auction.

Had a chance to see the ladies play this weekend vs Elmira. (I still don't like that team/school from the men's days) Anyways, two good games that could have gone either way the first day. Second game was tight too, with EC making the most of their limited chances. RIT settled for outside shots against the bigger EC D. Not much of a challenge for the purple goalie. Overall it was nice to see to good teams going at it and leaving it all on the ice.

Hamilton College tonight should be a interesting game because of the quick turn around. But both team played this weekend so hopefully the play won't be sloppy. Hamilton freshman Abby Ruinon is from Fairport so there should be a lot of blue in the stands tonight.

Looking forward to the ladies stretch run. Remember everyone has a chance if they make the conference tournament. Win when it counts that's all that matters.

PS ECAC - you're embarrassing women's hockey by sending those refs that did the first game. What a joke.
The sunday crew was very professional.

Good luck to everyone.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

Wow, Hamilton's goalie must be disgusting.

Becca Hazlett was outstanding in goal tonight. I can't say that a lot of her saves were tough ones, but she made the big saves when she needed to. There were some opportunities that should have been goals and she came up big or got extremely lucky.

And she's a Freshman to boot.

3 games in a row against really good goalies. Managed to pull out a win here though.

All saves are tough ones. 50 shots - 1 against... thats a good nights work.

The larger issue might be RIT's inability to convert.

I think you're reading a little too much into what I'm saying. She made the saves that a D3 goalie should make. A good number of those 50 shots were directly into her chest, and un-screened. There were also some saves that she made that were spectacular. She worked hard and was recognized for it (First Star), her team just couldn't come through for her.

I do agree with you though, that this team is having a tough time converting against good goalies. Hamilton didn't play great D, RIT controlled the game. But there were a handful of opportunities where an extra step means a deflection or a redirect would have connected and been a goal. Factoring in missed chances in this game, RIT should have had at least 5 goals.

The question I have is whether it's a lack of effort, chemistry, or bad bounces that is resulting in this problem for RITW. I think these girls are putting in a good effort, but the bounces just aren't coming. I think their passing needs to be better too, which would go a long way towards scoring the goals they should be.

Re: RIT Women's Hockey 2009-2010

The last set of games has really revealed the problem with this team, and that is consistency of converting on offense. Tuesday against Hamilton and Friday against Oswego were prime examples of us making goalies look like all stars by peppering them with easy shots instead of working harder to make a play. Friday was a 2-0 shutout and the opposing goalie gets the first star for making a ton of saves, despite losing. Tuesday was the same, with a score of 1-0 and the opposing goalies recording the first star. Last night in game number two against Oswego it was completely different, with 10 goals in the win.

This team needs to figure out how to score with consistency.

Especially since Plattsburgh is the next set of games.

Just a note to give props to whoever told us to check out Chipotle when Mrs. Fighting and I were in Rochester last weekend. It was excellant...in fact we went by ourselves once and with the Chirping's two nights later and were impressed both times. Great Burrito and the place was packed both times. Even got extra Gaucamole no charge when they found out we were from Canada...Saweet!

Ya nice article...too bad we have to wait until tomorrow to pick up the ol' Press Republican to find out what happened in tonights game. Wonder when Platty is going to pull itself out of the dark ages and begin webcasting home games? I mean...at one time they used to cultivate fields with a single plough and a horse but they don't do that anymore...

Hello?

Radio only broadcasts when the games don't interfere with the men's games. Men are on the road this weekend at Geneseo and Brockport. Unless one of the two announcers stayed behind for tomorrow afternoon's game (?), there wouldn't be any broadcasts for the women this weekend.
