RIT used to play here.

Re: RIT used to play here.

Twice.

Division II title in 1983.

Division III title in 1985.

They can become the first sports team in NCAA history to win titles in all three divisions.

My Conclusions

RIT will not win because:

1. They won Atlantic Hockey. The Tigers have never won both their conference Tourny and the NCAA Title.

2. Bemidji State lost. The Tigers have never won a National Championship Game in which their opponent was not the Beavers.

3. They already won DII and DIII. No school in any NCAA sport has completed the Divisional Trifecta.

RIT will win because:

1. They have never failed to win a non-DIII NCAA tournament in which they have participated.

2. I want them too. (Because that TOTALLY worked for Plattsburgh the last 3 years) :p

Re: RIT used to play here.

And the first time they played in the NCAAs at any level. And were in their third year at D-2. And were six years removed from a .286 season.

I don't think Larry actually looked at the page that he posted.

Well, I suppose those who consider the Atlantic Hockey conference as something more than the DI version of the MCHA, might agree, but IMO this year, they are Cinderella’s, the other years, they were expected to be competitors. In fact, IMO, ANY Atlantic Hockey team in the DI Frozen Four, would be a Cinderella. I also expect Morrisville to do in DIII what RIT has done in DI - except, the SUNYAC isn't the equivalent of Atlantic Hockey.

The '83 team had almost the same record as neumann 23-9-0 vs. 22-10-0, so not quite sure where you're going with this.

And who exactly ranks 'cinderella status', and what's the criteria?

Sorry, but IMO, you can't compare the ECAC-West status among their peers to Atlantic Hockey and their peers :( This is NOT bashing RIT, if they pull of a title; they will IMO, be definitive Cinderella's.

5'-7", 110 lbs, blonde hair, blue eyes, talks to rodents?

FYI ;)

But, for the poor unhappy girl, there was nothing at all. No dresses, only her stepsisters’ hand-me-downs. No lovely dishes, nothing but scraps. No rest and no comfort. She had to work hard all day. Only when evening came was she allowed to sit for a while by the fire, near the cinders. That’s why everybody called her Cinderella.

Re: RIT used to play here.

Just turn on ESPN HD and see the talent left in BC and Wisc. alone to get an idea of how daunting and monumental a task RIT still has in front of it.

One that unexpectedly achieves recognition or success after a period of obscurity and neglect.;)

Yeah, I understand the definition, I was asking how one ranks who is 'more cinderella' than someone else.

Re: RIT used to play here.

Stories like RIT are why I hate the fact that they have a week off between the regionals and the FF. RIT has a ton of momentum right now and if they FF was next week they would be able to carry that momentum with them. Unfortunately, because of the week off they are going to have to sustain that type of vibe for another week and when you're on the kind of high they're on right now its tough to remain at that emotional level for that long.

Clearly, they have the ability to win the tourney, but I think they would have a much better chance of winning if the FF was this coming weekend, not two weeks from now. I know they don't want to go up against the basketball Final Four, but I still don't think its particularly fair to teams that get on great rolls like this.

I was thinking the exact same thing yesterday. Plus, all the hoopla going on in Rochester right now. That too will die down a bit, and may be hard to reinvigorate in a week's time.

But with all that talent why should it matter? ;) I mean they are only playing Wisconson...Is it true that you've truely arrived when you make the front page of the D&C?

And yes, I might have a burnt orange shirt around here somewhere to wear for the 8th...gotta cheer on the underdog errr undercat....

Under Cat, funny.

At least New York State has a dog in this in fight, and no matter what history one may have with this program, it's more fun to get on board.

I feel it may have to go through BC, but this years MM has been more than bizarre with the Butlers and RITs still playing, so who knows?

I have no history (luckliy) , so Go Tigers. Maybe they will get a new building out of this, there is talk.....

Re: RIT used to play here.

If RIT pulls this off it will be the upset of the century (in college hockey).
It's only 10 years into the century. :D

However, if you're talking the history of the NCAA tournament, it would be bigger than Michigan State's upset of Clarkson in 1966. :D :D :(

I was thinking more along these lines....

Re: RIT used to play here.

Never been a fan of the Wisconsins....but my god lets go Badgers in two weeks!

Upset that Michigan got knocked out last night after some tough luck in overtime. It was a thrilling game for all that didn't watch but Michigan should have won the game about five times in the first overtime.

Tough way to go down especially after a referee error and bouncing one of the crossbar that had the goalie beat just minutes later.
