RIT used to play here.

Re: RIT used to play here.

RIT had simply too much going for it in the opening rounds----if they don't back it up in Motown ,I will call it a fluke .

Utter ridiculousness. Some people are never satisfied. If BC beats Miami, was it just a fluke that the RedHawks made it to the Frozen Four?

Re: RIT used to play here.

I am in no way diminishing RIT's run this year.I am only stating that they took advantage of some unique circumstances and merely need to avoid being blown out to prove they belong with the big boys of DI.By the way I would like to see them win it all and silence the fluke talk that I hear about RIT here in the midwest.

Re: RIT used to play here.

Some RIT fan a few years ago tried to continue the rivalry over to the women's side but i think RIT found their new rival in Plattsburgh due to all that crap that went on two years ago with the transfering of players and the stuff between the fans.

I thought that was between RIT and Manhattanville?

Re: RIT used to play here.

I'm following the approach I used in Albany - I just hope they don't get embarassed. It worked for the regional and I'm sticking with it. :D :D

I don't really see them being embarassed, they have quite a few older Canadian players and should overcome some early jitters. If their goalie holds them in early or they catch a big break watch out they could steal another game.

Re: RIT used to play here.

C'mon it's game day ,isn't anyone out there bold enough to predict an RIT victory. At least in DI if you have 20 victories and win your last game it counts for something.

Re: RIT used to play here.

And for others, that dislike has merely been transferred toward Canisius.

I disagree. For all the rivalry, there was a begrudging ring of respect to Elmira games. They were often evenly matched and were hard-fought games. Canisius is just a bunch of goons and hacks who are no contest for the Tigers in the past few years. As I've stated before, Air Force is the new Elmira, always good for a close, exciting game. Now, if only we could convince Elmira to come back for one more game at the Ritter to wash out some bad memories:cool:

Oh boy. If that happened, I would most definitely be making my first trip out to Rochester. Nothing could make me miss that "upset" when DIII Elmira beat DI RIT ;)

Seriously, the result of that game wouldn't matter, I'd just love to see it.

Re: RIT used to play here.

As someone who has lived in Rochester nearly their whole life this is a huge sports event for us. Despite being a pretty large city we have no sports teams in any of the 4 major leagues or any other D1 college teams. The biggest sporting events for Rochester are the intermittent major championships at Oak Hill. Those are amazing don't get me wrong, but it is just the golfers renting our city for a week nothing like having a team to root for. I'm not an RIT fan by any stretch mainly because Geneseo goes against them in non-conference games in just about every other sport and I'm a Cornell fan for D1 hockey primarily. However, I am definitely rooting for RIT to pull this one out for "Rock City" and "all those little schools who never got a chance"

Go Tigers!
