It would be a shock if Tanev does not break camp with Vancouver. Brenner will probably start with the Marlies and go from there depending on injuries/play. Pinner, Ramyond, and DeMike I expect will be on the AHL teams full season.
Pinner has clearly established himself as an AHL player with a shot at a fill-in role in the NHL. It may be tough cracking the forward lineup in Vancouver, but not much tougher than Washington.
Brenner will almost assuredly have to spend more time in the AHL before getting a shot at the Leafs, unless he blows everyone away at camp.
Raymond was a solid contributor to the B-Sens improbable Calder Cup Championship, so has probably earned a serious look at remaining in the AHL for at least the beginning of this season. The NHL is a stretch, but you never know if his contributions keep improving, especially with a subpar team like Ottawa.
DeMichiel, on the other hand... I find it very difficult to see him even cracking the Providence lineup. I don't know much about the Bruins' # 3 through # 6 goaltenders, but I do know they've had a quite solid farm system over the last few years (any surprise they won?). At the moment, he's not even listed in their top 6 goalies. Looks like he may be looking at another ECHL season, at least to start. But then again, who knows? If he's still improving his game as he has over the last couple seasons, he might just force them to give him a look in the AHL sooner than later.

AHA Media Day Tuesday. I think the only reason RIT won't have all the votes for #1 will be because coaches can't vote for their own team.

My guess for Top 4:
RIT
AFA
Holy Cross
Niagara

I don't know about 11-1. I'd be willing to bet NU and the defending champs AFA get some votes. If it weren't for their well documented goaltending problems, NU would have been right up there with (if not ahead of) RIT last season.

NU and AFA lost a lot to graduation this offseason. RIT lost some offense but were one of the teams with the most scoring depth. Not to mention RIT brings everyone back from the defensive side and has the best goalie in the AHA. AFA won last year because Torf had a great game at BCA and he certainly keeps them in the hunt and dangerous in a 1 game playoff.

Interesting piece in the vancouver Sun about the pairing of Tanev & Ballard for the preseason.

Tanev has packed on 10 lbs since last season, and has also reacquired the 8 he wore as a Tiger.

Another Tanev story. This one from The Province.

Good thing I didn't buy that #18 jersey they had for sale. =)

Thx for passing along links to the stories you find re the Tigers. The Vancouver Sun story praised Tanev for his poise on ice, and said he had "collectedness". I had to chuckle. What? No "calmosity"?

Tanev is starting tonight, with Pinizzotto on the Second forward line in the preseason game vs Calgary. I wish that was the one on NHL Network

http://canucks.nhl.com/club/depthchart.htm?dcid=82&intcmpid=van-nglg-lineup

Actually, that IS the one on the NHL Network - Pinner and Tanev are playing in the game at Vancouver, which starts at 10 PM Eastern (7 PM Pacific). The game at Calgary is starting at 9 PM. Also good news is that its the on Rogers SportsNet, so it should be an HD Canadian feed.

Ranked first again this year. We held serve last year but couldn't get it done in the tournament. Is this more motivation for Air Force to step up and prove the voters wrong?

Also officially confirmed today: RIT will host Penn State at 2012 Brick City Weekend and Michigan in 2013.

Vote was very close. RIT and AFA both had five first-place votes, but RIT finished first 113-112.

If RIT is hosting Michigan they just might need the BCA.

Wow, Michigan? Guess we really are starting to get noticed by "the big boys"... Might need to play these games at HSBC Arena soon.

Don't forget about Penn State's allure. Yes, we all know they're going to be a young "expansion" team in 2012. But the casual sports fan in Rochestser (and even on campus) will hear "Penn State" and think that's a school they'll pay to see play.
Both of those opponents I would think are guaranteed sellouts, and quite quickly.
Nice!

Oh, no... Does this mean we have to listen to the UM pep band play that d*** "Hail to the Victors" over and over and over and over again? Yuck.

Feel free to take a roadie out here any time. I know they won't be conference rivals anymore by then, but you could always come root against the Wolverines with us :). The more the merrier!
