It is a relatively large class of seniors on the roster, and it's interesting that Madolora is listed as a senior. I thought he was listed last year as a soph. Just me, I guess. The younger goalies in that case can look forward to next season, and the position-battle that will ensue. Please don't tell me that the position is open for this year.

It isnt just you, and if you look at the roster from last year madolora is listed as a sophomore. I'm hoping it is a mistake, but I wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't. There were rumors of issues with his eligibility being 3 years instead of 4

I believe the NCAA had issues with his high school transcripts as he had attended a number of schools. As I recall he was at RIT a full year before he was able to play. Likely has 4 years of eligibility but will graduate this year. Also probably has some professional interests and the clock is running......

Per twitter, Jared DeMichiel has signed an ECHL deal with Kalamazoo for 2011-12 and will attend Boston Bruins training camp.

President Destler flashed a picture of the conceptual drawing of the new arena at today's opening address. It is just a concept, but it looked pretty spectacular. Global village was in the background. Also he mentioned that he hoped to have a big announcement with respect to the arena within a month or two.

Bryan Potts switched from #7 to #17.

Popular number. Murphy switched to #17 from #27 when Smith graduated.

I'm not sure if this being Madolora's last season hurts or helps his chances of being #1 right out of the gate..

I don't see how it would hurt. We have more non-conference games in the beginning of the season and a few 1 game weekends, including a pretty significant one with Niagara.

That does look good!

Wow, that looks amazing. I like that the design sticks w/ the rest of the architecture on that side of campus and has lots of tall windows for enhanced natural light. I can't wait until the first game is played in the new Arena. If RIT continues to have success over the next couple of years, we'll jam-pack the new arena. Let's just hope the incredible atmosphere of the Ritter is maintained.

Madolora enrolled at RIT for the Spring '09 Quarter. So he was only there for one Quarter before his career began with the Hockey team. I don't know how that would affect him however...

I hope the new Arena seats 5,000. Better to be safe than sorry!

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

Everyone, please remember that this arena image is nothing more than a concept of what it might look like. This was done to help with fundraising. It is not a rendering of any architectural plans, etc. It is safe to assume this is the direction RIT will head, but this is not a direct rendering of the arena that will be built (such detailed plans do not exist to my knowledge).

Regardless, it is exciting to see the type of place we might be watching hockey in within 2-3 years!

Interesting how only the Arena gets cheers....Funny how Sports actually builds school Spirit.....Something this School was severely lacking while I attended. I like the little shot about anyone wanting to fund the arena after the picture was shown....

the late 90's/early 00's while i was there were great teams. The Bournazakis Bros were great, Tristan had a lot to live up to with Ryan, but held his own. Forgot about the Tarantino Bro's. I remember looking at the roster one year and seeing Tarantino, then thinking "that dude is still there, how long can he play?"
