I think this is in response to increased demand, and is a sign of things to come. You now have to arrive by 5:45 PM or earlier for a 7:05 game to get the General Admission seats that you want. Otherwise you risk not being able to sit where you want to. This is just not practical for many fans.

That being said, this is a very good problem for a team to have, especially with a new arena on the way.

I agree. I don't understand why they are putting all the reserve seating at one end of the rink. I'd buy reserve tickets, but not at the wrong end of the rink. Alas, this will eventually be taken care of with a new arena.

My guess is that there is a much smaller percentage of students that want reserved seats. So keeping them all in the end where the crowd is mostly (but not all) us older folks who are more likely to want the reserved seats, makes some sense.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

Looks like the CCHA just got a little smaller. I would guess that this increases the chances of several of the Atlantic Hockey schools that talked to them jumping ship sooner than later, as their chance to be competitive just rose significantly, and I would guess that the CCHA knew this was happening going into the talks with the AHA schools, so they could probably put some good offers down.

I'm extremely interested to know what's going on behind the scenes at RIT as far as the future of the program. Personally I like the idea of moving up to a better league, but there is something to be said for always being the #1 contender in your conference, and the realistically 50/50 chance at the NCAA bid we share with Air Force every year.

Trying to figure out that one:
"CCHA just got a little smaller" ... CCHA is gone!
"jumping sooner than later"? ... jumping where?

...there is something to be said for always being the #1 contender in your conference, and the realistically 50/50 chance at the NCAA bid we share with Air Force every year.
Well, that's pretty d*** presumptuous.

CCHA is gone? I assume you have some insider info that the rest of us do not have? Yes, some of the colleges jumped to the WCHA but there are still teams in the CCHA and I am guessing they are considering if bringing in AHA teams before they commit to moving to the WCHA.

Jumping to the CCHA unless they go defunct.

At this time it isn't all that presumptuous. A bit over zealous maybe, but if some of the better teams jump to the CCHA then I think it's pretty realistic until another team shows they can compete consistently at a high level.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

Oh, sorry no insider info ... do I need some to figure this out? Let's see ...
LSSU - gone (you do know that, right?)
UAF - gone (saw that announcement, right?)
Ferris State - you really think they are going to go east instead of with the 3UP teams? announcement is rumored for Monday.
Notre Dame - think they are staying? :D:D
Western Michigan - think they are not going somewhere else?

Okay, that leaves BGSU and ... and ... and ...

oh, add in UAH? Hmmm ... don't think so (travel is not so much the issue but the availability of conventional Fri & Sat dates and starting times is - I do have insider info on that).

... and you know that after our CHA experience that Niagara (and RoMo) are not interested in again being in such a small conference - meaning six or even seven teams, depending on the stability of the individual teams.

As for the presumptuous part ... okay, if you are talking about a league without Niagara and RoMo; however, it is presumptuous if you are talking about a league with those two teams in it.

I see, so speculation makes fact in your world. Got it.

Okay ... "just the facts, ma'am":
Northern MI, LSSU and UAF are gone.
The CCHA as it now stands for 2013-14 season will be: Notre Dame,Western Michigan, Ferris State and Bowling Green State.

There you go. No speculation. Happy? But just curious ... if you were to accept a little speculation, with which of my speculative statements would you most concur? And with which would you least concur? (Just wondering where you are on the reality spectrum ... :D:D:D)

I doubt that it does increase the chances. Because I don't see it as a winning move for anyone. Frankly, if the AHA four are going to join a six team league with Bowling Green and Alabama-Huntsville, that's at best a lateral move competitively. That league won't be better than the AHA is right now (and IMO, leaving behind RIT and Air Force for the aforementioned BGSU and UAH makes the move a competitive downgrade), with no substantive decrease in travel costs, and the possibility that the whole thing could implode upon itself if just one team can't keep paying its bills; the only benefit of any consequence is having six extra scholarships, and a marginally easier path to an autobid.

I'm sure that when a spot opens up in a better league, RIT might make a play for it.

A rump CCHA is not that league.

Let's all take a breath, relax, and play nice...
I'm pretty sure that is what he meant. It's been said on here back when all this shake-up started that if MC, NU, and RMU were lured out of the AHA, RIT and AFA would pretty much be #1-A and # 1-B for the foreseable future. Who in their right mind would make such a statement about the AHA as it is currently constituted? That would be way beyond presumptuous.

I know that seems to be a popular opinion but I disagree on the competitvely point. I think BGSU and UAH are a heck of a lot more serious about a hockey program than AIC, Bentley, Scared Heart, Canisius, and UCONN. Holy Cross is on the bubble with me on the how serious they are. Army I see having a hard time recuriting for at least a few more years.

There was a point made somewhere about some programs being shell shocked in the super conferences, and moving into a difference conference could breath new life into these programs. I think I buy a bit of that and I think there is more potential for a BGSU or a UAH than much of the buttom half of the AHA.

Now if there is a spilt in the ECAC with the Ivy teams leaving, that would be great for RIT to jump into. But that just seems like talk for now, I really think RIT would be wrong if they don't at least consider a move to what is left out west...

Heisenberg has Brandon Tanev going to Providence

Well that may work out, except for the Bournazakis brothers the other younger brothers just never seem to live up to their older brothers standards...

I'm thinking Tommy has the pre-marriage jitters so little things like RPI-RIT get him going ;)

I am not sure about that you will have to ask my wife. Maybe I am just not paying enough attention, but it just seemed like a good month everytime I checked the board to see what was going on, I always saw a couple posts about RPI and RIT. Guess it just seemed like a lot more than actually was there. Sorry I will be more on my game when the season starts...

Tristan Fairbarn wasn't too much of a step down from Ryan. Although they were completely different players, so hard to tell. Ryan was pretty good.

When the younger of the Tarantino brothers started, I thought he might best his brother. Unfortunately, 30 or 40 hitting-from-behind penalties later... Mike was better.

That move for the AHA-4 would be essentially a lateral move from the AHA-West, but yes, if you include the East it's a different story.
IMHO, that ship has sailed. There have been no reports (or even rumors) of talks between BGSU, UAH, and or the AHA-4 about anything, let alone forming a new conference. It looks like the AHA is staying status quo (fortunately), the CCHA is done, BGSU may join the WCHA or NCHC (doubt it), UAH may be invited to the new WCHA (hopefully) or fold.

In both cases, the younger brother had a tough time getting out of the shadow of the older one. They never lived up to the hype. But in Tristan's defense, he was a very different player than Ryan. But Rob T never came around like Mike did.
