>>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

The women need the moratorium on playups to be lifted in order to become DI.

Except that the NCAA DI has adopted new rules that prohibit any new playups (current can remain playing up, but a single year failing to field a team and you lose it) unless the lower division does not sponsor a championsbip in the sport.

Sad stuff. I loved watching this kid play in junior and was not very happy when he was traded. However, we then got Tanev, so all wounds were healed :D

Anyways, hoping that no matter what, he learns from these trials in his life and becomes a better person in the long run.

So has anyone tried to match us to AF/RM/NU for this up coming season? I know each of us lost a large senior class.

In an interview with Paul Pearl (Holy Cross's head coach, he said RIT is the game he looks forward to every year. Pretty cool!

I'd be willing to bet that most coaches in Atlantic hockey would say they look forward to coming to RIT every year.

Just shocking, I saw the same potential in Mike to be a real star at RIT. I love his skills, his aggressive style, and his mean streak. Seems like an odd crime for someone so young to be involved in. All most leaves hope that he didn’t know what he was involved in or was suckered in somehow. Not good when the best position is to be thought of being stupid and someone who was taken advantage of. We have to let the facts come out and see what happens, but if he did it what a waste of talent...

Either way, it seems RIT has lost a very good player for at least part of next year and that is more than likely wishful thinking. Losing a player to early to the pros is one thing, but something like this leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I have the belief that Wayne Wilson will handle the issue well, but will be a tough issue to handle going forward.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Offseason 2011 - Dreaming About 2011-2012 <<<<<

The RIT sports twitter has posted that we'll be getting big hockey news on Monday. Is the schedule being released earlier than usual? Or perhaps there is another big donor for the rink? Any other guesses?

I'm hoping the schedule release isn't such "big news" that it requires an announcement of an announcement. I'm really hoping it's something exciting.

That's what they did last year...so I wouldn't be surprised.

EDIT- schedule is posted: http://www.ritathletics.com/schedule.aspx?path=mhock&schedule=275
(found it by changing the year on the "choose" dropdown.) No story has been posted about it yet though.

Edit 2 - only one holy cross game is listed. I am assuming the second game will be on the day after the friday game listed.

Same here.

Interesting that both Sacred Heart games are in Bridgeport. Trying to drown out the RIT fans with a) bigger attendance or b) bigger arena?

Tough schedule, early conference play, arguably tougher OOC games, and last 4 games against Robert Morris and Niagara.

I would have liked to have seen Niagara as the home coming game just to just add to that rivalry...

The Tigers play single road games at Mercyhurst, Niagara, and Robert Morris, while hosting each team twice at Ritter Arena.

Nice to play these Mercyhurst, Niagara, and Bobby Mo twice at home. Hopefully it'll give us an extra edge against some tough Western pod teams.

I would like to see a Niagara, or Air Force as the home coming game in the near future. I understand doing it against the OOC teams with bigger names to draw attention. I think with maybe one or two more years of good attention, and good attendance, we will see a conference rival game for brick city. I know when I get to be alum, it would be more fun to heckle teams that we have history with.

I'm disappointed the RPI game is going to be over Thanksgiving break. It would have been neat to have their band possibly come to the Ritter.

If it makes you feel any better, our band probably won't be there, either. To be honest, I was (and still am) quite surprised your band even went to Troy last year. Usually we only get a few ECAC bands in.

, early conference play, ...
Hopefully it will be nice to get a couple W's on the record before diving into non-conference play, unlike the last couple seasons.

I would have liked to have seen Niagara as the home coming game just to just add to that rivalry...

I still hesitate to call it a rivalry yet, at least not until RIT can finally prove they can beat Niagara.
