looking forward to seeing the Tigers, but sorry to hear it'll be over the break. won't be drawing 10,000.
hope you're playing somebody else in the neighborhood on the trip, long way to travel for one game.

Eh. One year we had to go to Colorado Springs for one game against Air Force. A 6-hour drive into Ohio is nothin'.

Did Bowling Green play anyone else in WNY back in October?

ya, Canisius. guess that means we'll get a return from them, which makes two teams doing single-game trips to Ohio.
I'd rather see two vs. the Tigers, but then we'd owe you another one...

We usually do 2-for-1, that's how we got Michigan in two years ago. But BC and BG let us do one-for-ones.

not to be too blunt, but screw 2-for-1. that's why we no longer play Michigan.
see ya'll next season.

Would anyone else be in shock if Holy Cross makes the move to Hockey East?

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

I'd be surprised. I don't know about shock. CHC's institutional profile seems to fit the ECAC better than HE, but to join the ECAC they'd have to commit more resources to their women's team.

Not really for men's I'd be more interested what it means for their women's team. I would expect that their women's team would no longer be allowed to play DIII in order for them to move. Hockey East may not demand it right away like the ECAC would but they would expect Holy Cross to do so in a couple years.

Do you think HE would require a newer rink and the accompanying seating to go with it? The current one is nice but it's a bit small on the seating.

HC would play at the DCU Center similar to how UConn plays at the XL Center.

Unfortunately a HC move to Hockey East would likely mean an end to a possible RIT entry to the ECAC in the foreseeable future.
HC would seem a better fit for the ECAC and Q Tip a better fit for Hockey East. But the latter and its prexy seem quite content
with the present arrangement as it ups its academic profile via The Great Hunger Museum, Quinnipiac Poll, etc. Not that there is anything
negative via an association w/ UVM, BC, BU etc.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Holy Cross does sort of fit a Hockey East profile in the religious aspect. That said, I don't know if they would commit the resources needed to play at that level. Holy Cross is not a high profile school in anything athletically, which is a big difference between them and UConn.

They will have to be co-tenants with the recently announced Worcester Railers of the ECHL . Obviously far from Impossible, but a small wrench thrown into this plan as they would not have free reign of the building as they would've in the time it lacked a consistent hockey tenant

Unrelated but congratulations to Hockey Ops director Jeff Siegel on his promotion to Associate Athletic Director

Never a fan of a college team having to play off campus.....seems to take a lot of atmosphere out of the games if the facility is too far away.

UConn shares the XL Center with the Wolfpack. They're making it work.

Just because HE will have three religious schools (out of 11)? If that is part of anyone's profile in college hockey it would be part of the AHC's. They have 5 religious schools currently. Of course if HC were to move, then both conferences would have 4, sooooo... what was my point? Oh nevermind.
AHC - 5 (SHU, NU, CC, MU, HC)
HEA - 3 (BC, PC, MC)
B1G - 1 (ND)
ECAC - 0
WCHA - 0
NCHC - 0

And their per game attendance numbers aren't too shabby! 3,600+ per game. I think they'd draw less if the rink was on campus due to the remote location

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

True, but I think it different at Holy Cross. The Worcester Railers I think makes it unlikely that Holy Cross will go to the DCU Center. Holy Cross doesn't have the big name that UCONN does, and the state in which the Huskies play is kind of hockey starve since the NHL left...

The one thing that got me was I heard very little from the school on a desire to go to the DCU Center. Holy Cross has a history of going half in on their hockey program, it's hard to see them going all in on the DCU Center. With the new ECHL team they lose leverage on negotiating a price to play there. If they could get into Hockey East that might change things. Having BC, BU, and Northeastern coming to the DCU Center for Hockey East matchups would certainly draw more fans than what the ECAC would offer, even with Harvard in there.

There is a lot that can and will go on leading up to Notre Dame leaving Hockey East at the end of next season, but as a Tiger Fan I see this as a positive development for RIT. I really see Quinnipiac as the better fit in Hockey East...
