Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

"Quinnipiac snuffed out those hopes with a dominant performance in the third period for a 4-0 victory in a game that was probably closer than the final score indicated."

The writer must not have watched the game or don't remember. This was clearly an even game for 2 periods. RIT just ran out of gas and had to take more chances, and did not capitalize and got burned because of it.

The writer both watched the game and remembers. Like I wrote, it was closer than the final score indicated, and Quinnipiac was more dominant in the third period.

Any other nits to pick?

Then why use the word "probably"? ;)

I don't expect the game to be a slugfest unless you mean hard hitting. RIT is very strong on defense and goalie (as noted), though it would not surprise me to see Christian Short in net as it is a non-conference game due to Coach Wilson's tendency to alternate goalies early in the season, especially in the non-conference games. Short is also solid in net, and if Rotolo falters, Coach won't be afraid to make a change. Most of RIT's top scorers from last year are returning, and with a year of experience should be better. Most likely a score of 2-1 or something along those lines will be the final.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

The first period of the RIT V. Quinnipac game was even in my eyes. Killer was the power play goal which I felt Rotolo should have had. Tigers responded well and I thought clearly was the better team in the second. But something that was kind of a Achilles heel all year was an inability to finish good chances at times. Quinnipac was able to get one early in the third and put RIT into desperation mode and completely changed the game.

Bottom line, RIT didn't embarrass themselfs, they played a good game against one of the best teams in the nation, but in the end it really wasn't close to being good enough. I overall was happy with the effort and the season. This team was very young in many key areas, it wasn't like the last two teams that went to the NCAA and had goal scorers that had been around for a couple years. They also got amazing goal tending for both of those runs. That will be the key if the Tigers can make it back next year. Rotolo (or Short) was good last year in the NCAA, he's got to be at least great.

Well, if we're picking nits...

You said: "...they haven't beaten anyone outside of Atlantic Hockey but SLU (which they've done three times) since a 5-4 OT upset of Michigan in October 2012." I suppose you were just looking at regular season games, but technically Minnesota State in 2015 would be the last time RIT beat a non-conference opponent that wasn't SLU.

Overall, I thought it was very well written, though. Nice work.

...? You're really doing this because of the word "probably"? He's essentially saying the exact same thing as you.

This is a fair, well-written summary of RIT. It wasn't meant to be a recap of the QU game.

Cut Komey some slack it's the off season, better to nit pick at that than Presidential race...

Speaking of nothing better to post in the off season. Found video today on one that got away Gordon Ballhorn who decommitted from RIT to join Kelowna of the WHL. Doesn't light up the score sheet but sounds like he moved into their top 4 defensemen and getting power play time. Had a good 59 games in regular season with a +16, not so great playoffs at -4. 6"1" guy could have developed nicely at RIT... O well as Rocky says, Delete...
