Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Because I'm obsessed with statistics, I have been working on a spreadsheet tracking RIT's stats in the Division I era. I thought I'd share some interesting stats now that the season has ended. Hopefully there are a couple other stat nerds out there that will enjoy this...

Alexander Kuqali finishes his time with RIT with:

- 146 PIM (10th All-Time)

I'm thinking McReynolds holds the title on this one?

or am I thinking this acronym is not what I think it is.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Why do you say that? OOC records (as distinct from overall records) don't enter directly into the PWR, do they?
Powers &8^]

No, not directly, but in addition to what was already described about the impact it has on RPI, the OOC games are AHC teams' (and the conference's as a whole) only real chance (most of the time) to get wins vs top 20 teams (or top 25, or top 30, or whatever that PWR criteria is now)

I bet McReynolds is toward the top for career PIM.
I wonder if Steve Pinizzotto holds the single-season record for PIM?

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Nice job with this. One other record for Mitchell is games played with 154. He played in every game all four years. Kuqali was right behind with 153.

Here's the top 10 for Games Played:
1. Josh Mitchell 154
2. Alexander Kuqali 153
T3. Brad McGowan 150
T3. Greg Noyes 150
T3. Adam Hartley 150
T6. Ben Lynch 147
T6. Chris Haltigin 147
T6. Cameron Burt 147
9. Dan Ringwald 146
10. Sean Murphy 144

Games played is one of the few statistics where all-time leaders are all in the D-I era because of the longer schedules.

I don't have games played on my spreadsheet. I probably should. I'll have to add it.

You would be correct... And it's not even close. McReynolds leads the way with 336 PIM. 2nd is Alan Mazur with 194.

Single-Season PIM Leaders:
1) Taylor McReynolds (2010-11) - 138
2) Brandon Thompson (2013-14) - 80
3) Steve Pinizzotto (2006-07) - 76

Not for nothing but this team could use another Taylor McReynolds......if you're going to take a penalty, make it a good one!

Nice job data mining there.

McReynolds was a really good defensive forward by his senior season. A lot of teams could use a guy like him.

Ed basically stated what I was referring to. Point #3 was that the league needs to have a winning percentage in the .400s to even have a chance. Without something like that, any AHC team would practically have to run the table to be seeded above a 4 seed.

hey, Tigers coming out to NW Ohio next year? got schedule?
may the best Wilson- and Hills-associated orange team from Ohio win... ;)

Exactly. Even with a .445 OOC record, the WCHA couldn't get more than Ferris State in this season. Michigan Tech was 15th overall in the PWR and would have been a 4 seed had they been able to get in.

My mistake. I thought you meant RIT's OOC win%, but you meant the league's.

Although that was at least partially driven by the conference's teams beating each other up during their conference season. Their regular season's champions win % was lower than any other conference in the country (.696). The next two lowest regular season conference champions by winning percentage didn't make the tournament either (Minnesota and Robert Morris). And yes, both of those conferences struggled out of conference too. It was actually a strange year where all of the leagues that struggled out of conference didn't have that one team that dominated the league the way a Quinnipiac, Boston College, Providence, Norte Dame, Denver, and North Dakota did this year.

(Yeah, there's multiple teams from the same conference there, but they all were better in their own conference than Robert Morris, Minnesota, and Michigan Tech were in theirs)

RIT will still need to do their share.

Kuqali to Florida Everblades of the ECHL. They've clinched a playoff birth already, so hopefully he gets some playing time.

Hopefully Mitchell heads somewhere soon as well.

Good team. Kid from my hometown plays for them

We haven't seen an RIT schedule for '16-'17 yet with dates, but I've heard that RIT will visit Bowling Green for a single game the last weekend in December.

Mitchell joins Kuqali in the Everblades:

They both join Chase Golightly from RMU, and Cuddemi from Canisus. Bet that might be a fun locker room when they first show up.

looking forward to seeing the Tigers, but sorry to hear it'll be over the break. won't be drawing 10,000.
hope you're playing somebody else in the neighborhood on the trip, long way to travel for one game.
