Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

There is a lot that can and will go on leading up to Notre Dame leaving Hockey East at the end of next season, but as a Tiger Fan I see this as a positive development for RIT. I really see Quinnipiac as the better fit in Hockey East...

The only issue is if Quinnipiac actually goes to hockey east. When they inevitably come calling, HE will have to be quite persuasive since from everything I've read Q's administration really likes it in the ECAC.

That being said if Quinnipiac does leave, I believe RIT's ticket in is all but punched...

No administration will publicly say they want out of their conference if they are smart. Also, I would be shocked if anyone who REALLY knows what will happen would be posting here.

This place would be a ghost town if that were true! :p :D

Your education has served you well then!

Now......has anybody seen next years schedule?

Nope. Historically RIT has released a schedule in Late May/June.

Well, we didn't lose to the eventual national champions, but there's no doubt RIT had to face a very very difficult squad. I still don't think there's any shame in losing to them; I think it was our hardest first-round matchup yet.

I saw this post in the QU thread:
The posts, the close calls ... we were right there. One of those go in, it's a completely different hockey game. And that's why it hurts. They're the better team, but we were right here with them. That's going to hurt for a long time.
It struck me that it could have easily been written about our matchup with QU rather than the national championship.

RIT finishes the year ranked 20th in today's rankings.

In a just world in 2017-18 you would be playing at least 2 games against #18, travel partnered w/ #19 and, in March, playing in front of a full house at Placid

Tigers in the pros update:

After playing 1 game and then being released on April 9th, Andrew Miller signed an ATO with the Binghamton Senators (AHL) again and played in their final game of the season yesterday. I'd like to see how much ice time they were giving him, but I can't seem to find that information. Let's hope bringing him back means that they plan on keeping him around next year.

As for the other seniors, Greg Amlong finished the season with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (ECHL). They did not make the playoffs. He finishes with 5 games played, recording 1 assist, 2 PIM, and a +/- of -3.

Alexander Kuqali finished the regular season playing with the Florida Everblades (ECHL). He was not released, but he was not included in the smaller playoff roster. He finishes with 6 games played, recording 1 goal, 2 assists, 2 PIM, and a +/- of +2.

Josh Mitchell played 2 games for the Florida Everblades before being released. He had 0 points, 2 PIM and a +/- of -1.

In recruiting news, yesterday forward Jordan Peacock committed to RIT for next year. He spent this past season playing with the Burlington Cougars of the OJHL. He recorded a total of 36 goals and 47 assists for 83 points in 70 games (including playoffs).

Edit: I just noticed that Jordan Peacock is listed a 6'6". Yes, you read that right.

216, apparently. That makes him the 2nd heaviest (behind Rotolo) on next year's roster. I wouldn't be surprised if he bulks up a bit before the season starts as well.

Listed as 210lbs. At 6'6" I have to wonder about his skating. Also he had 121 minutes in penalties to go along with the offensive totals. Wonder how many of those were called for contact to the head?

I'm not too worried about the penalties. We'll have to wait and see how he plays, but big guys like him always get extra penalties just for being bigger... And I can only imagine that it's even worse in Juniors.

Please Wayne put Peacock on a line with Valenzuela and Powell. It be hilarious to watch them talk to each other before a face off... :D :D :D

Kuqali suffered a shoulder injury midway through the third period of the Everblades second to last regular season game. He is in a sling for several weeks, so was not included in Florida's playoff roster due to the injury.
