Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Anyone know of other games where a team had 2 extra attacker goals to tie a game? I know it happened in the 2009 National Championship with Boston scoring 2 against Miami.

Komey, unfortunately, you and I can recall a game when a team had 2 short-handed goals (on a 4-minute penalty kill no less) to tie the game, in the last 2 minutes of regulation, followed by the game winner after killing off the remaining 2 penalty minutes in OT . Dammit, George!:(

Ugh I was at that game

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Even if Mikie gets back to 100% it will be hard to take Short out of there if the team keeps winning...
If it were me (which it's not, thank goodness), it wouldn't be difficult at all. Rotolo is the starter and hasn't been proven to be otherwise. He should go back in. I don't necessarily subscribe to the belief that you can't lose your job due to injury, but unless the replacement lights the crease on fire you really shouldn't lose your job. Short has done a respectable job, but is not exactly stealing games or striking fear into the opponents' hearts... yet. It's great that he's getting all this game experience (and the team is winning, more importantly) and that can do nothing but help the team later on. If and when Rotolo is cleared to play, however, Short should return to the backup role.

And I'm still glad they lost that game. That group of senors

If Rotolo was a little more proven I would agree with you, but he keeps showing promise and then getting hurt. I just don't think he's really ever won a starter straight out. It looked like Wayne was going to go with him into the playoffs last year up until he got hurt. We will never know if things would have worked out differently, but it's hard to argue he would have done better than what Ruby did. If he is healthy in these last couple of weeks I'd give him a start no doubt. But unless Short really crashes it's hard for me to say give the keys to Mike...

Based on number of starts (13 vs 4), yeah, Rotolo is the starter but.......Wilson put Short in for the Saturday night start against Robert Morris just two weekends prior to the pile-up at Mercyhurst when Rotolo was hitting a bad patch. I do find it odd to not play your starter for a game against RMU unless there was an injury to Rotolo back then too. Wilson will have a tough choice to make once Rotolo is healthy enough to get back into goal as Short and the team have compiled a nice run with Short in goal.

Remember to last years conversations where people were saying that the team played better in front of Rotolo than Ruby....seems we have reached that point again, eh?

For me, doesn't matter who's there as long as the team is getting better and winning while doing so.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Well this year, the team seems to be playing better in front of Short. Their offense has been on fire since Short has been on - that's why they've been winning.

Short has the worst save percentage in Atlantic Hockey, and he's the only one not in the 90's. He has progressed a lot the past month, but the offense realistically won't be scoring 4 goals every single game. Statistically, Rotolo should be the starter.

I tend to agree Rotolo should re-take the reins once he is healthy. However we should probably ease him back in...so rather than have him return vs Air Force in Colorado Springs maybe we let him shake off the rust next weekend vs AIC.

See this is what I don't get, and this is not directed only at you, but I hear plenty of people talk like Rotolo is no doubt the guy, but yet right away when he comes back instead of going right to him you want to ease him in to what should be "easier" games. If he is the guy why not just give him the keys when he returns, what with all this babying of Mikie, I don't think he needs to be treated with kids gloves.

Look I am not trying to argue that Short is the guy, Rotolo may indeed be the best option come tournament time. However to dismiss what Short has done to this point would be just plain stupid. Wayne is much smarter than that. I give Short credit I thought he played rather poor during the Canisius weekend. I wouldn't blame the Friday loss on him as I thought that was second worst game I've seen besides the Niagara loss. However I wasn't impressed with him come the next night despite the win. However since that weekend he has put together a string of very solid games and done a good job at giving his team a chance to win night in and night out. He's earn a shot at getting a place at the table for the stretch run.

When Rotolo is 100% recovered, or maybe I should say 110% recovered for Ed's sake, then if I was would say okay boys. We alternate till the end of the season and see what happens. And yes I would consider keep alternating if both guys are playing that well, but that hardly ever happens...

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

One of the differences over the past five weeks has been Josh Mitchell. He looked frustrated early in the season. Eight points in 16 games. RIT was 5-9-2 before the holidays.

In 2016? 14 points so far in 10 games, and has been held off the scoresheet just twice during that stretch. RIT is 7-1-2 in those games.

Agreed, I know Wayne has talked about challenging to step up and lead this team. But Mitchell is a guy who they need more than leadership from, they need points. And he's been doing that.

Ironically the uptick in scoring seemed to coincide with Goldberg leaving, which I don't see as anything more than maybe more motivation for guys to step up, but it's an ironic fact...

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Two points last week was undoubtedly a little bit of a disappointment, but that slight step back can be erased by picking up 2 points this week. Any more than that and I'd be ecstatic.

Let's just hope we don't have one of those 9 PP's to 1 games on Saturday that always seem to spring up after a Friday night win at Air Force if we do win tonight.

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Tough night on the out of town scoreboard. Not so much in the final results but the tease the underdogs gave us by taking leads into the 3rd period. RoMo scored 2 third period goals to win 2-1, and HC ties 2-2 despite entering the 3rd period down 2-0 to Army. Shots wise both Holy Cross and RoMo played pretty mediocre first periods, but have had heavy shot advantages since.

Nice to see Mercyhurst drop a game, there's definitely a solid gap forming (continuing to form) between the top 4 and the rest in the chase for home ice in the 2nd round. A win tonight guarantees the Tigers end the weekend no worse than 2nd.

Decent tie tonight. Always hard to get points out at Air Force. Hope they do the usual play better on Saturday and win.

I am not saying ease him back in because he isn't good enough. I'm saying ease him in because a guy who hasn't played in an actual game in 2 months is going to have some rust to shake off, and that is easier to do and less likely to end up badly against AIC.

I have full confidence in Rotolo to be able to beat Air Force, but it's a tall task to ask somebody to make that start on the road for their first game back.

A good tie, even. Obviously a win would be great tomorrow, but another tie would make for a really good weekend. Feels good to be solidly in the top 4 at this point in the season with the youth that permeates the lineup. If only they could win at home

We'll have the out-of-conference schedule for RIT for the next two seasons and some for the following season during the first intermission of tonight's radio broadcast. http://witr.rit.edu/

Well, that's fraught with danger because if somebody else, let's say your arch nemesis post it here before 9:27pm ET, then you've lost the excitement of your announcement. I say you let us know now so nobody can steal your thunder! :p

Re: >>>>>>>>> RIT Tigers 2015-16 Regular season thread. On the prowl again

Time for Rotolo to get back in net or was this a case of the defense not playing like they should/? Sounded like the defense didn't help the cause based on the radio talk mind you I missed the 3rd period scores.
