Anyone know of other games where a team had 2 extra attacker goals to tie a game? I know it happened in the 2009 National Championship with Boston scoring 2 against Miami.

I disagree with suggesting Short didn't have to make many big saves. HC had a lot of grade-A scoring chances, including a breakaway.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Yes he stopped a breakaway, but the shooter decided not to make any moves and simply shot it at Short's chest, so I can only give a golfclap for that save.

He certainly took a step back tonight either way, giving up 2 mediocre goals that any one of probably should have been stopped. I'll let the 2-0 go, even though he was in position to make that one as well.

As for the rest of the team, tonight felt like a playoff game right from the get go. Very intense, fast paced, great game to watch. It's hard to get excited about back-to-back ties, but RIT made a clear case for belonging at the top of this league with Holy Cross. If we play them at Blue Cross it will be one hell of a game.

Got to Rochester for last night's game and came away feeling like it was a real mixed bag. 1st period looked good. 2nd started out OK, then for 5+ minutes the wheels came off. They couldn't make passes or defend. Looked like nobody was was on the same game plan. They righted the ship but never really got that edge back until the OT. And what was that PA in the 3rd. Looked more like they were helping HC kill off the clock.

He certainly took a step back tonight either way, giving up 2 mediocre goals that any one of probably should have been stopped. I'll let the 2-0 go, even though he was in position to make that one as well.

While I agree that he gave up 2 or 3 goals this weekend that likely should have been stopped, I was quite impressed with how it didn't seem to affect his confidence at all. Aside from the breakaway, he really wasn't tested a lot on Friday, but I would say he was tested a whole bunch of times on Saturday and came up huge when it was most needed. The mid-to-late second period could have doomed the Tigers, but he saved their butts. Then he was really good in the third. So many goalies can be rattled when they give up goals, especially when they are "weak" on their part. Christian doesn't seem to be one of those. For a freshman, that is impressive and should only help as he improves.

2001 National Championship game, BC was ahead of North Dakota 2-0.
The SIOUX pulled the goalie, tied the game, then proceeded to lose in OT.

I think it's UConn next year. I've heard RPI and Union were going to be on the schedule - but those are rumors.

I agree, seems to be his best attribute is not letting mistakes bother him. Everyone is talking about his side to side movement, I don't think there is a problem there. Again I see him more over reacting at times and leave himself out of position. That seemed to improved against Holy Cross. Even if Mikie gets back to 100% it will be hard to take Short out of there if the team keeps winning...

I have to mostly disagree with you on all most every point. I think he might have allowed 1 soft goal on the 3rd Holy Cross goal. I still can't tell from the reply if the puck deflected off Norrish or not. Even a slight deflection can be so tough on the best goaltenders. The first goal was puck luck to me. All around RIT was in pretty good position, Spencer Trapt had the puck roll off his stick right to Sommer who just got his stick on the puck a spilt second before Short could react. It certainly not a "greasy goal"... If you goaltender makes a save on a 2-0, your buying him his favorite top shelve liquor... I think Short did about all you can expect from a Freshman goaltender this weekend. He did make some timely saves that gave RIT a chance in each game. No doubt I think he has a way to go before he steals a game. But he has proven that he will be an option going into the playoffs

The point on Friday was as big as it gets and I think we are going to see it as a difference in playoff positioning. RIT has certainly proven, before this weekend that they are right with the top of this league. In reality I see RIT, Robert Morris, Holy Cross, and Air Force as the 4 best teams and I do not believe anyone of those teams are head and shoulder above the others. It could be an epic final at Blue Cross.

I have to give Holy Cross credit. Even though I still hate their style of play (packing it in like a train on wall street during rush hour) you have to give them credit for getting a point on Saturday. After losing a 2-0 lead with not much more than 90 seconds left on Friday, it would have been easy to mail it in on Saturday. They proved they are going to be tough.

UCONN is next season (Going to be weird seeing them again). I know Northeastern is coming at some point, Wayne mentioned it at an alumni event. Hopefully RIT will head up there to play at this historic rink at some point too...

The Tigers picked up another recruit for the defense in 6'3" 205lb Adam Brubacher from the Powell River Kings of the BCHL. Not sure about his defensive ability, but on the scoring end he's doing pretty good with 40points from 16goals, 24 assists in 48 games. That line puts him 1st in goals among BCHL defensmen and 3rd overall in points. No idea what his +/- is as the BCHL doesn't report that stat. Powell River has produced Dan Schuler and Matt Garbowsky for RIT. Prior to the BCHL he played 2 years for the Elmira Sugar Kings of the NOJHL. RIT has pulled a few players from there. Tyler Brenner for one.

Adam Brubacher (DOB: 12/13/95)(6'3" 205lb)(48gm-16g-24a)
Darren Brady (4/5/96)(6' 200lb)(37gm-6g-17a)(+/- +7)
Regan Seiferling (3/9/97) (6'2"-165lbs) 45gm-8g-16a)

Valette and Brubacher are in their last year of Jrs so they'll be here next year.
McKay & Brady have another year of Jr eligibility so they could be here 16-17 or 17-18
Seiferling is young and may hold off til 17-18, though he is doing pretty good with Yorkton of the SJHL. He's putting up numbers comparable to the Norrish twins did for the same team.

Tough to gauge defensemen as only the USHL and NAHL report +/-. The Tiger have 3 D to replace due to graduation, so who knows how many of these guys we'll see next year. My guess (which isn't worth much) is that Seiferling holds off til 17-18, and the other four come in to give a little more depth at the blue line.

I have no heard anything but 2 of the 5 have 96 birth years, so I'd think they'd be able to spend another year in Juniors. RIT has the potential to return 5 so it looks to be crowded back there, but be nice to have some backup options for once...

It's a nice late pickup, and while this may not be the case in this instance, I think we're going to see more late additions because of the growing trend of the major programs over committing and then cutting guys loose late in the recruiting process.
