RIT TIGERS - 2013-2014 Season

Re: RIT TIGERS - 2013-2014 Season

Congrats to the Lady Tigers for an awesome tournament championship. Hope they can build on this and lead them to an NCAA berth.

Re: RIT TIGERS - 2013-2014 Season

Congrats to RIT. What a long road from that early season game against Clarkson. Great job by a school that I have a good bit of respect for down there in Rochester.

Re: RIT TIGERS - 2013-2014 Season

I am seeing in various places the RIT women's team being referred to as the "Lady" Tigers. No where around the team do they call themselves that. They are simply the "RIT Tigers". I don't know which is accurate but I gotta say, the term "lady Tigers" just sounds wrong.

At least they're not calling them Tigerettes … or worse, Cougars. :D

I have yet to see a case of a men's team where it's official name has something like "men" or "gentlemen" added to a gender-neutral term, so why should the women's team be saddled with such nonsense. Especially on here where the topic is "women's hockey", we should be able to just say "Tigers" and everyone will know what team we mean (unless they are playing Princeton ;) ). But I agree; congratulations to RIT on a great championship!

Re: RIT TIGERS - 2013-2014 Season

Congratulations to head coach Scott McDonald for earning a 4-year contract extension.

Congrats to Ali Binnington for earning All-USCHO Third Team honors. Potential Kazmaier candidate next year?

Re: RIT TIGERS - 2013-2014 Season

As schools start to release schedules, here are the first confirmed dates I have seen for RIT - 10/24 and 10/25 at Brown.

Re: RIT TIGERS - 2013-2014 Season

The APR takes into account scholarship athletes, and for schools not offering athletic scholarships they use a standard based on recruited status (not sure what that is). I am sure all the schools listed have very intellegent and successful young women playing for them - just wondering how many players on non scholarship school teams are used in calculating this number? Also curious how PSU APR will look in the future with 7 players not returning?

Re: RIT TIGERS - 2013-2014 Season

I found the men's schedule was on the RIT Athletics mobile site under events, but not on the regular website yet. Found the women's schedule the same way. It should eventually be here: http://www.ritathletics.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=347&path=whock

Unfortunate indeed. I always look forward to Brick City homecoming weekend. Aren't games supposed to be played at home during homecoming weekend? Actually, no hockey games are scheduled homecoming weekend at the new Polisseni Center (Men's team is scheduled to play downtown). Two years ago during homecoming, RIT hosted a big ground breaking ceremony for the Polisseni Center and now don't schedule a hockey game during homecoming weekend. Doesn't make any sense to me unless they are worried arena won't be finished in time.
