>>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Yeah... you're right. I'm just not convinced a team ready for the playoffs would be giving up 6 goals. Yes, Canisius did almost the same, but I felt we should be better than them :|

Disappointed in the effort tonight from a team that I thought was beginning to click on all cylinders. At least we got some help from AIC who beat Bentley tonight and we've backed our way into a home playoff series next week. I don't expect a close game tomorrow....either we blow Canisius out or vice-verse.

Everything that needed to happen last night happened for RIT... and the defense should be kicked out of RIT.

Good god, man. Shumway and Kuqali are freshmen, and Saracino already graduated. What exactly are you looking for? Besides, it's the entire team's defensive-zone play, not just the six guys dressed as defensemen.

That said, is it still too early to flip the panic switch?

Flipping it does what as fans? It's not like Coach can bench people aside from the goalies. RIT only has 1 healthy scratch in Brownell - which given their defensive struggles I am surprised has not gotten more of a look. In the few games he has seen action, he has done well I thought.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Consistency...that's what has me and I'm sure many other fans perplexed with this team and coach pretty much said the same thing last night. Does fault lie with the players, the coaches, a combination of both? The school was on break but practices were great according to coach. Each team year after year has it's own character and the team leaders and coaches help shape that character. Except for AF, every team in the AHA this year has at times been inconsistent, including Niagara. If you look at the AF game results this season, they have not lost a game to an AHA foe by more then a goal. This is most likely due to their coach and the type of players they recruit, don't get me wrong, I am not a fan but I admire their play. Other teams like Holy Cross who I saw last night at Army, or RIT, UCONN and just about everybody else have played some pretty poor games. Time is running out for RIT to find that consistency.

I guess I'm looking for an RIT team that doesn't give up 6 goals to an AHA team...

At least three of those were directly attributable to the goaltenders (both of them). Poor defense led to two of the first three goals, but in all honesty if Noyes hadn't slipped and fell, the breakaway (goal #3) likely would not be in the net.

That said, it's too late for another goaltending controversy. Ruby will be in net again tonight, as he should be, because he is better.

Watson's goal against last night (the game winner, mind you) was so typically Watson it's almost comedic at this point. I imagine the scouting report teams have on him reads: "Skate behind the net, on the wrap around attempt, go for the five-hole. You can't miss it. Literally."

Are there likely to be tickets at the door at Canisius this evening? Contemplating making the trip west tonight.

It's not going to sell out trust me. I have been to Buff State many times.

What is Wilson starting Watson for? This goalie situation should have been figured out 2 months ago... Time for Wilson to get his head out of his you know what.

Confirmed that Watson is starting? Where did you see/hear that? If that's actually true, it might be the first time I seriously question Wilson's coaching. Ruby has played incredibly the last month, and if you're going to bench him on the last game of the season because he has one bad game...man, that's ridiculous.

Okay, and literally kicking five students and a graduate off campus accomplishes that how? I mean, you'd at least need a disciplinary hearing or something, wouldn't you?

1. Where was it said Watson is starting?

2. While Ruby has played well this last stretch, do we forget that he was pretty bad before that and LOST his starts to Watson? Neither goaltender really took the job by the horns and showed they wanted it more. It's hard to figure out a situation where the candidates did not play well.

3. Even if he is starting Watson, I don't see the big deal. RIT won't lose home ice with a loss. Being #8 or #7 doesn't mean all that much to me. I suppose the possibility of #6 seed could be nice and getting games against Army. But with the inconsistency of the Tigers play, even that won't be easy.

Maybe you missed the stats that Ruby put up in the time between Niagara and last night? He was at something like a .936% over that time. Ruby WAS bad at the start of the season, but he was also fantastic in his more recent foray, which is more important. Watson was never spectacular. He got the job done, kind of, but he was never stellar or particularly impressive.

You don't see how not sending the message to the team who the number one goalie going into the playoffs isn't a big deal? You don't want to be platooning goalies in the playoffs, and goalies need consistent play in order to play at their best. Watson will be rusty on top of not that great to begin with, meanwhile benching Ruby for a start will shake his confidence and that's pretty important to goalies.

We got home ice in the 1st round. It's better than being in the bottom four. Let's get some rest and be ready for AIC on Friday night (although Friday nights make me nervous)

It looks to me like we should be playing Bentley? AIC will match up vs Canisius.
