>>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Does anyone know the specific specs on the new arena? The exact seat count and standing room count? Will there be club seating?

About 4100-4200 total. Yes there will be a club, and club seating.

Is there a possibility the new arena will still looking like this?

also noted that Clarkson will be the opponent for the first game at the Polisseni Center :)

Hmmm ... I'm not sure what I think about that. Clarkson will have lots of fans, should be a good game, fellow Tech school, and all ... But somehow I was hoping for something else. Maybe RPI, or Cornell, or an HEA team like UVM, or Maine, or a western team like Mich. Tech, or Bemidji (some history there).

Anyway, Clarkson is a fine opponent and it probably doesn't matter who RIT plays (or the result), it will be exciting enough to be in the new arena.

And, of course, great to see a sweep of Mercyhurst!! (I'm getting dangerously close to optimistic.)

That's an old render now, the most recent ones I've seen are quite different.

Most significantly, perhaps, I believe the large Ritter-esque windows are gone. As well as that upper deck.

They better not eff this up! I pray to god this does not turn into the next PaeTec Park for Rochester. You can only downgrade so much until you might as well just keep what you have.

That being said. I have all the faith in the world in President Destler. He did wonders for Maryland. Now it's RITs turn.

Call me a bullet catcher for being in the U.S. Army but RIT has an endowment of 600 million +. Universities build new arenas every... what 30-40 years... So wouldn't it be beneficial to build something that the school would want?

Also athletics build pride. If a student had no pride from where he went to school and made a billion dollars... Do you think that school is going to get a donations from that individual? I think not.

This is a more current interior rendering and list of information.

Well, it's not looking promising whatsoever but, here's to a bright new future to RIT hockey!

Looking at that... Might as well just give the RITTER a face lift...

I'm not sure that's entirely fair. It's not significantly different aside from the lack of upper deck seats and a wall of glass. It's hard to see in that picture, but there is still a ton of glass on the North end of the building that will let natural light in and help with that Ritter feel. It's too high up to be easily seen from that angle, but you can see it.

I did not notice that, thank you for pointing that out. Here is another question, how much standing room is there? 350 it says in that article, I sure hope its more because that's what makes the Ritter so intimidating.

Is RIT going to update us soon on what is going on with this project. Being overseas I am very eager to learn more!

I'm not really sure what the standing room numbers are like. Since tickets are going to be sold for specific seats rather than general admission, I'm sure that cuts it down somewhat, and the club section is going to take up a large chunk of what could otherwise be standing room.

I think that RIT is keeping a lot behind closed doors because things are changing very often, and they don't want to release to much to the public only to have it change (for better or for worse) a week later.

I'll be darned; I never saw that before. Not bad!

The other problem is that the rendering is pointed toward the "boring" side of the arena (aside from the windows). If you look at the blueprints (https://twitter.com/BobFinnerty/status/295967853755109376/photo/1), there's pretty much nothing over there; all of the concessions and restrooms and such are on the other end (behind the camera in the rendering).

I love love love the opposite-side benches, and the fact that both the men and women will be able to get on the home bench directly from their locker rooms (though it does diminish the excitement of cheering them onto the ice a bit). I'm still certain this is going to be a huge upgrade over the Ritter... It's just not going to be quite as nice or distinctive as the initial renderings implied.

I think you'll like the video boards too ;)

OK... I'm curious. Let's hear some more about the video boards. I thought there was going to be a large scoreboard in the center of the arena.

Yes, with a video board on each side, like at any professional arena.

I believe they will be replacing the center hung scoreboard, though I cannot confirm or deny that at this point.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-13: Clawing our way up the standings in the 2nd half

Although scaled-down from the original, the new arena seems from the rendering a vast improvement over Ritter. A stadium seat that's easy on the old back, not hassling with fans who throw a blanket over the bleacher to save five seats for three people. Better facilities all the way around. Bring on the new.

Hey, quick question. How do the playoffs work? I know we are not getting a bye but what does RIT have to do to get home ice all the way to the BCA?
