Well when you struggle with getting goals against middle of the pack teams like Uconn and Niagara, I have no confidence in anything.

Check the standings.

Even with our struggles, we're a top seeded team and getting to BCA requires only beating a low seed team.

The problem with the current standings is that we've played 13 conference games and AFA, RoMo, and MHurst have only played 11, so once those games in hand are played by those three teams that are above us, we could find ourselves in a deeper hole.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

The problem I see (to put what others have said a different way) is that RIT has an overall winning record while being outscored by its opponents. What I see is some pretty resounding losses (Rob. Mo. for example) with no resounding wins on the other side. That's got to change to make a run through the playoffs, especially with a fairly difficult conference schedule to wrap up the season. They need to win some of these games with authority. (A win and three close games in the next four would also be a nice thing to see ... I fear it might be 4 losses with only one, or maybe none, even being close.)

All that said, I'm still not jumping off the bandwagon (don't want to lose my seat!).

They also need to win a conference game on the road. I think they have only won once away from the Ritter...

Just a few teams with players that have scored 5+ goals so far this season:

AFA- 6 players (one of which has 11 goals)
Mercyhurst-3 players
RMU- 5 players
RIT- 1 player.

We don't have an offensive pressence on the ice, and when a 'bad team' has a bit of luck on their side, they'll easily take a lead on us that we probably won't recover from.

I thought we weren't supposed to be critical of the Tigers until later.

Middle of the pack? How about bottom, middle and top of the pack? The scoring struggles, aside from three games, know no bounds.

1-4 road record, to be precise with an underwhelming 6 goals scored in 5 games. Ouch. Not the kind of play we've come to expect from RIT, really. And that is without the luxury we've had in past years of being able to say "Well, most of our road games so far have been OOC games, so just wait until conference play kicks in." Currently, RIT has played NO OOC games on the road yet. This is all in-conference. Yuck - so far.
@ UConn - Loss 3-2 & Win 2-1
@ MC - Loss 2-1
@ CC - Loss 3-1
@ RMU - Loss 4-0

The good part is that there is a long way to go in the season and many more road games (12, with 8 in-conference) to improve upon this record. Go Tigers!

But as RIT has proven even in years with a much stronger offense, that is easier said than done. Yes, they've managed to win all of their Quarter-final matchups to date, but most of those opponents (AIC notwithstanding) have given the Tigers all they could handle. And besides, the lower they finish within the top 4, the better team they will face in the Quarters (finishing # 1 so much helps insure playing a real bottom seed). That is, of course assuming they finish in the top 4, which is certainly NOT a given at this point. If they finish between 5 and 8, they will host a bottom seed, but that is in the first round that they have to play before even getting to the quarters, where they would have to go on the road to one of the top 4 teams. Basically, the Tigers have a lot of work to do. Nothing is for granted in this conference even if they weren't struggling to win on the road or score goals anywhere.

For those of you on the Corner Crew Facebook page, I encourage you to read my mid-season interview with Coach Wilson. I did ask a couple of questions that seem to be commented about on this year's team.

I noticed, thanks for making our concerns heard.

RIGHT?! hahaha

Are you two married to each other?

Powers, It was all about the tone and level of reaction of your previous quotes that unleashed that flury against you. Compare your original comments to the comments above and you'll see the difference in how they are written and received by those on this board.

I'm not out to give you a hard time as I find what everybody writes here pretty interesting and insightful but we all need to get over it and focus on the here and now. Writing about the good and bad is what these boards are all about but you really need to think (as do I) about what and how you write it before pressing that 'Submit Reply' button.

I'm looking forward to a better second-half of the season.

Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanza and Happy Hanukka everybody!

Flights are not uncommon, for example to Alaska (Anchorage and Fairbanks) within the WCHA and CCHA. Everybody flies to AFA in AHA. Flights are typical for long distances in non-league games. RIT to Wisconsin, for example.
Just Listening to the USCHO Podcast (ep-8): Great interview with Wilson. Not often you get a long interview like that go into that depth.

To each his own, but I don't see too much of a difference.

But, yes, I vote we drop it.

I'm still not sure what original comments you mean. Since the Niagara tie, I've pretty much just said that it'd be nice to be able to beat Niagara and to be competitive enough OOC to make a run at an at-large bid. I've also said that it's disappointing to see what looks like a regression from the 2009-2010 season. I really don't see what's controversial about that.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

Thinking that we can stay at the level of the 2009-10 team is a bit of a reach. That team was loaded with some players that really could have played at higher level NCAA conferences and programs. I don't think we have a player like THAT on this team outside of Madolora. But I will admit this has been one of the more frustrating years for RIT fans, and I am sure for the coaches as well.

There is still time to achieve the ultimate goal of making the NCAA tournament. But this team needs to turn it around offensively for that to happen.

Thanks, JRZ DVLS. It was a treat to be able to do that. I've had a chance to chat with Wayne off the record on road trips, etc., and so it was nice that we got to talk about the program in general. I was particularly interested in his comments about proposing NCAA rules that would allow schools with D-I programs who weren't grandfathered to offer scholarships.

Re-read Post # 774 on Page 39.

At what point does the number of losses become unacceptable? At what point is it too late to say "they'll get it turned around later"? Given the success we've had, I don't think it's unreasonable to be disappointed with an apparent regression in scoring touch.

But more importantly... if the ref says "no goal", and the linesman says "no goal", but the goal judge watching the visiting team's net says "goal"... how is that a goal?

If you look at the tone of your comments in the first line and the number of comments back towards you after that, you'll see what I'm referring to.

Strike the first two questions and I believe nothing more would have been said or construed as negative in your post.
