Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

Bottom line is RIT ia 0-5 on the road against the Western pod. THAT is the reason they are tied for fourth. They are living off the 10-1-1 against the East and 2-0-2 against the West at home.

The Tigers really need to break that streak and take the 4 points against Canisius to get back into the hunt. They may need them to make sure they get a bye in the first round.

I went to the games this past weekend and I was pretty impressed with the Air Force fans(with the exception of a couple bro cadets, but everyone has bad apples). It was definitely the best crowd in terms of loudness and organization that I've experienced at an AHA away game. It's a shame they're so far away, it would make for some awesome cheer battles.

They wore black for homecoming, and I think for the Sacred Heart games this year.

Powers &8^]

Nitpicking, but black on homecoming was last year for Craig Charron. They wore Orange this year at homecoming to match the crowd. The new black jerseys made this year (which are real jerseys, not like the screen prints they wore for the auction last year) made their first appearance @ canisius on 10/20.

I am not sure about SHU.

As bad as it seems right now, I'll trade those two losses to AFA for one win over them at the BCA. I'm sick of Serratore gloating over how they own the post season and the BCA.

Untill RIT beats them at Blue Cross they do own them. Only Sacred Heart has beat Air Force at Blue Cross...

This is something new for RIT, a big bump in the road down the scretch, be interested to see how they respond this is a must 4 points this weekend...

Yes ... didn't say it wasn't true, just said I'm sick of it and hope it ends!

You don't get to trade losses. Nobody wants them. Of course we'd all be willing to trade losses.
Normally you would say something like "I'd trade two road wins at AFA for just one RIT win over the Falcons at BCA in March.", but we can't say that since RIT hasn't won there since the 08-09 season (0-5).

Overall, I wasn't too upset at Friday's loss, especially since RIT is now 0-8 all-time in the first game they play (against AFA, at least) on a trip to Colorado Springs. Blame the altitude or whatever, but they always seem to come out flat that night (except for a win over Connecticut College in a tournament out there back in the D-III days). Saturday, however, was much more of a disappointment. Before losing the Saturday games in 09 and this past weekend, the Tigers were 3-1-2 (all in OT) on the second night against AFA. It sounded on the radio like they were playing their game quite well through the first two periods. But the fact that they had it handed to them so badly in the third was a huge letdown after the way they've been playing for most of this calendar year so far.
Let's just hope they can put it behind them and play like they know they can against CC. If they do that, two wins should be the expectation. Any lost points can be huge in this jumbled conference race. RIT Winters said something about losing 1st place this past weekend. They not only lost 1st, they also managed to lose 2nd and a share of 3rd for good measure. At this point anyone in the top 8 or even 9 of this conference can finish anywhere in there when the season is over. Scary stuff. All teams can do is win, win, win.

If you can trade "wins", then you are also trading "losses" ...

With only 4 points seperating the top 5 teams in the conference, it's anybody's guess who's going to win or tie for first.

With AFA out of the way, the Tiger's have the easiest schedule of the top 5 teams, they just need to win them (don't get complacent with CC) and let the others knock each other off for the Tigers to take the conference title and a first round bye.

Let's see what happens. It all starts on Thursday.

One certainly has to expect RIT walks away with 4 points this weekend. Anything less would be a significant disappointment against a team we traditionally dominate and who are having a mediocre year.

The Niagara/Air Force series seems like it won't result in a sweep, and a split there thus allows us to pick up two points on both teams. If there was a sweep, the sweeping team would be in great position but the losing team would be surpassed by us.

Same exact situation with Mercyhurst/RoMo. We have to hope the teams above us all bludgeon each other this weekend when we have a relatively easy weekend. I think the games this weekend will really serve to shape the final standings.

After that, we have two home games against RoMo. We've done pretty well against RoMo the last two years, with the notable exception right before break this year. However the games are at Ritter, which makes a 3-4 point weekend seem pretty likely. After that a home/away against Niagara. If we can split or take 3 points from that series I believe we'll end up in the top 2.

RIT had traditionally dominated this series, but there is the fact that CC did win the only meeting between the two so far this season.

Technically, only two of the teams (NU & AFA) above RIT can do any bludgeoning of one another. RMU is behind the Tigers (for the moment, at least). For the best short term results, RIT has to hope RMU sweeps MC (oops, I mean MU). Who knows whether that would be a good or bad thing come the end of the season, but for the time being, that would help the most.

Actually, RIT is only 2-2 against RMU over the last two years... so far. Fortunately, both RMU victories were at their home rink. RIT's wins were one at Ritter in OT and one at the Consol Energy Center (or whatever they call the Penguins' new arena).

I basically see it as RIT needs to sweep Canisius this week and get at least spilts against RMU & Niagara. That should keep them in the top 4. If they can get more than 2 points in the RMU or Niagara series they will have a shot at another regular season title...

RIT had traditionally dominated this series, but there is the fact that CC did win the only meeting between the two so far this season.

Sure, with Josh Watson in net and Saracino and a few others sitting out injured. Even then, it was a 2-1 game if you don't count the empty netter in garbage time. And we all know how the team played during that whole stretch without Shane. Canisius hasn't really shown the kind of improvement that we have since that time.

Technically true, yes, but RoMu is right there with us and a team that looks to factor into things.

And the loss last year was a game that RIT outplayed RoMu for the majority of but was doomed by a bad 1st period by Shane. The combined result is that RIT has looked very good against RoMo for all but 1 game, which served as the catalyst for great change to the team over break. Considering that 3 of the games have been played away from Ritter, I think that is pretty good.

Saturday's game sold out yesterday. I also saw on twitter that Canisius is bringing a fan bus. Should be a good atmosphere as always. Don't forget to check out the women vs Elmira tomorrow night at 7!

The Tigers are 0-2-1 against the three teams they have remaining on their schedule. I'd hesitate to call it easy. I'd find it hard to believe Coach Wilson will let them "get complacent" against a team that they are 0-1 against already this season.

I'm not much for excuses. A loss is a loss. And last I checked goaltending is part of how a team performs.

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

Good game tonight. RIT dominated play more than the 3-1 score suggests. The 36-16 shots tells a more realistic story.

Canisius was held to 9 shots through 2 periods. They showed signs of life for the first half of the 3rd (the majority of their shots and goal came during this stretch) but other than that RIT really dominated the other 50 minutes. Their goalie did a surprisingly good job keeping them in it, stopping us from converting a number of very good opportunities.

Saracino is still out, but that was the only somewhat unexpected injury. For a Canisius game, it was pretty clean, although Taylor Law is a huge goon for them.

A well earned win for Cameron Burt's birthday!
