Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

Chris Lerch has confirmed via twitter that the Vancouver trip is cancelled.

The RoMo game is also marked on a thursday on AHA's site, but the Michigan Series is listed as 10/12 and 10/13 (Fri and Sat).

The exhibition Canada trip seems to have disappeared from AHA's site, and is not mentioned in RIT's schedule either.

Anyone know the reason?

Michigan being on a Thursday isn't necessarily a bad thing, as that means possible exposure to television.

Did mean to imply it was bad, just odd to have two Thursday night games in one month. Yeah, maybe BTN will show those games! Of course that is only good if RIT plays well. ;)

I wouldn't hold my breath on the BTN. They will probably have previews on all the B10 football teams before they cover hockey in October.

Alumni update: Congrats to Bobby Raymond and the Florida Everblades for winning the Kelly Cup!

Ringwald's OKC Barons are still in the AHL playoffs, but they're down 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals to the Toronto Marlies.

Some NHL team NEEDS to get Raymond on their team. All he does is win championships.

Just saw the 2013 RIT schedule.
How does a NCAADI program play an ACHA program (Lindenwood)? Did Lindenwood move to NCAA?

I think you were looking at the RIT women's schedule. RIT just moved up to DI this year.

Got an twitter today from RITNEWS-- they have selected the site for the new arena, and will announce tomorrow.

Let the short and idle speculation begin until tomorrow's news begin! Where do you think it ll be plopped down on campus?

I'll go with the easy answer of "S lot" with the open question being whether (a) it is on S lot with the grass area to the south being made into parking or (b) it goes onto that grass area with most of the current S lot left in place. Personally, I'd think close to the breezeway into Global Village. (northwest corner of S lot).

For some weird reason, I think if you plop the whole arena in between the current Ritter Arena and the Field house, in the depression between the two buildings you might have something. Extend the plaza in front of the ticket offices over to the entrance of the arena, and unify the athletic entrances (field house, hockey, swimming, and soccer/lax stadium). Pro of this would be easier access to current infrastructure that may be needed to run the ice rink (as seeing the infrastructure is next door already)

However, the recent locker room additions may have negated the space available, so possibly we'll see it on S-Lot. Of course, thats the most realistic answer

But, I am aware they're (slowly?) removing Riverknoll. Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to raze several more apartments and place the Gene on top of the old apartments, and add more parking spaces up there? Again, speculations. We'll find out in a few hours.

Hmmm. I have to say I am surprised and, for some reason disappointed.

A little birdie told me that there is a large amount of IT mainframe and powergrid related things underneath S-Lot that would have made it much more difficult and/or expensive to be there, so U-lot got the spot.

I'm not too partial to S-lot being the site, and I think U-lot is a good spot as well due to being in the center of campus. Parking will be an issue but that's nothing new here.

Me too. Maybe it's because I am older and none of that development was there when I was but that location seem like a odd spot for a new arena. The back side of campus just seems wrong to me.

I thought the synergy of having the rink near Global Village was better than having it in the middle of campus. Closer to GV, closer to student housing.

They're going to have to add extra parking somewhere near U-lot now, but where?

It's kind of like the shed behind the old house instead of the guest house next to the shiny new mansion. Regardless, we'll get used to it and I'm sure learn to love it.
