Great game tonight the Tigers were ferocious. RIT can beat anyone when they play like that. Very impressed with Garbowsky, McGowan McReynolds line they are relentless. And Scott Knowles... Always gives 110% and he has delivered some if the most crushing hits I have seen in tigers hockey lately. Plays like he is 6-2 220. Watch him when he is out there he is sure to deliver a punishing hit.

Just gotta keep it up for tomorrow!!!

This is absolutely true. However, McReynolds lack of scoring touch is really starting to hurt. He failed to capitalize on 3-4 empty net opportunities on odd man rushes and shorthanded that could have really put the game out of reach (even more so than 4 goals). I'd really like to see him convert some of those chances.

However, other than the last 5 minutes of the 2nd and first 5 minutes of the 3rd, I felt like RIT was totally dominate tonight. We saw that a dominate defense will shut down a strong offense, and their defense was almost laughable at times. It's almost hard to believe they have been so good all season given how we undressed them tonight. If we play another game like this tomorrow, I love our chances to stay on top.

Also, today was the first time I ever saw a college player try to shove/throw a ref out of the way so he could fight. That kid was crazy ****ed, and ended up in a headlock from the ref. Definitely won't see him tomorrow, but I do expect the attitude will remain.

I expect that tonight's game could be called very tightly - especially early on.

Funny you said that! I left the game a couple minutes early because I wasn't feeling good and I think it was the chicken I ate lol! GO TIGERS!

Tonight's game should be a real barnburner. With the action in the closing minutes and the fact that MC/MU started to finally get out of their Tiger induced funk in the third, it could be a classic or a brawl straight out of Slapshot.

Rule #34 of Tiger hockey, don't eat the chicken at a tournament championship pre-game meal.

Depends on who is wearing the stripes tonight, I think.

100% true. Scotty is nuts, I love watching him play

Scotty doesn't Knowles?

It was nice to see a lot fewer odd-man rushes. Interesting to know what was causing those.

I think it's save to say that RIT was a bit lucky to come away with a tie. Fortunately, the tie means that they will be in first place for the week. Now we need Canisius to take some points from Air Force to put some space between us and them.

It seemed like Mercyhurst came out with something to prove and a chip on their shoulder, and RIT was going through the motions expecting an easy win.

It wasn't until the very end of the third, where we applied constant, heavy pressure for 5 full minutes (and all of OT as well) that RIT looked like it was playing like it should. We did well to come away with the tie, but there were many opportunities missed as well.

How about that reffing? In my opinion, it was THE worst reffing job I've seen in a long time. I cannot explain how ****ed off I was at, especially, Visconte(?). Absolutely horrific job. We, as a team, were pretty terrible for the majority of the second half of the game. But 1/2 of my blame for the loss goes to the refs.

Yeah except we didn't lose. =)

I don't know about half of the blame, but they sure did let a lot go that they probably should have called -- including two blatant holds by 'Hurst in the waning minutes.

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

I walked away from last nights game feeling a little disapointed that it wasn't a win but then again, it wasn't a loss.

From the weekend though, the Tigers jump into first place in AHA and get to get their name up on the 'Bracketology' forum.

Looking at the standings, there are five teams that trail the Tigers by 1 to 5 points. Wins over AFA, Niagara and RMU will be critical to the Tigers taking the AHA title. A letdown at Canisius would suck so in reality, the quest for the title comes down to all of the remaining games.

This team has come a long way from their early struggles and hopefully they'll take this to the title game.

I thought the Tigers ate the bad chicken yesterday. A few moments, but other than that, not too impressive.

The take-away for me is that the Tigers have come along to the point that they are real contenders, if not favorites, for the AHA regular season and the tournament. Clearly, they can play well enough to beat anyone in their way. But also, just as clearly, the question remains "will they"? Let's hope so. I'm guessing it will take about 12 more points to win the league.

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

I had complaints about the officiating on Friday night. I thought the officials allowed a lot of hitting after the whistle early which ultimately led to losing control of the game. Last night I thought they did a pretty good job. It's amazing how we all see a different game. It's nice to see that Jeff Smith has stepped forward, showing he wants to be a go-to guy, but it's difficult to compliment him and not his whole line. McGowan/Garbowski would do so much more with a winger who can handle the stick better, and shoot. Still, the season is a process, and the Tigers passed two tests this weekend: (A) playing with a lead, and (B) finding your groove at the end of a game to avoid defeat. That's why so many left the arena feeling good, as if RIT had won.
