RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

The last thing RIT really wants is to play in the play in game. Single game this early could mean suprises - even if it's a home game.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Well, now that the curse of the 'Black Jersey's' (1-0-3 between the men's and women's team when 1 of them was wearing one) is behind us, we just need to win the games we should win and take the others.

The end of February is going to be quite interesting.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Where do you get 1-0-3? I thought it was 0-0-3, (men vs UMass Lowell, Women x2 vs Plattsburgh)

Plus add in the loss in pink last year against Bentley. The curse of the fundraiser????

The men won Friday night while the women were wearing the jersey's, hence the 1.

I play on a softbal team at work. Each year our company comes out to support us and have a cookout during a league game and each time this happens, we lose horribly!

Glad the Tigers handle the pressure better than we do.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

A quick look at the BCJHL scoring leaders shows three RIT recruits, and another doing well:

McGowan: 31/45 1.6 P/G 1st in scoring
Garbowsky: 33/25 1.3 P/G 14th, and tied for 1st in Gs
Thompson: 12/41 1.0 P/G 20th
Reid: 16/23 0.8 P/G

Nicely done, lads. Can't wait to see ya.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

this weekend should end any votes RoMo was getting in the polls, that's for sure.

Nope, apparently it doesn't matter if only get one point on a road trip to West Point as long as you have a 5-2 OOC record.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Tanev had a pp assist last night for his first point. They were up 6-1 at the time, do not a normal occurrence. Any way, I was listening on my way home from my beer league game and the nucks radio guy was praising Chris a lot about his decision making and play. May make it tough to send him back.

Chris took a shot from the Right Point, that was either saved or deflected then was put out to the left circle where Hamhuis buried it

Trade him to New Jersey!!!!!

Tanev was rather impressive last night, and you can see him playing better and better with each game. He's made my Open Ice subscription really worth it this year! Now if only DirecTV would show Rogers Sportsnet in HD... :(

Video of the assist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vElXA90kKdw

A nice article today written about him too:
http://communities.canada.com/thepr...ve/2011/01/25/two-words-tanev-impressive.aspx

Its just hard to imagine watching him last year playing with Burt, Favot, Ringwald, etc., and now watching him make breakout passes to a Sedin and defending a goal with Roberto Luongo in it. I'm guessing his stint may come to an end after Wednesday night, as some of their defencemen should be ready to go by their next game then after the All Star break, but he's raising a lot of eyebrows in Vancouver, and he may challenge for a spot on the roster next year, or even as a 7th defenceman come the playoffs.

Anyone with info on Brenner?? He is the guy RIT can not lose this year...

The Niagara vs. Bob Morris game is being broadcast live in Buffalo, so I can watch that without going all the way up there. I think Robert Morris needs at least 3 points against Niagara plus needs to beat RIT to have a chance to get a bye....

I've been wondering about him. Haven't heard a thing, and not a chirp on RIT Athletics nor Lerch's USCHO blog. Hopefully that means it's a non-issue, and not pending the result of extensive tests.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Tigers pick up another recruit out of the OJHL. A goalie to replace Ropponen.

Jordan Ruby 2-22-1991, 6'-1" 180lbs - Tavistock, Ont.

2010/2011 Wellington 31gm 1843:32min 23W 4L 2OTL 2SOL 3SO 67GA 2.18GAA 896SH 0.930SV%
2009/2010 Wellington 34gm 2005:52min 21W 6L 1OTL 5SOL 0SO 73GA 2.18GAA 1003SH 0.932SV%

Rubys stats put him at 3rd in the goalie rankings (GAA) 2nd place is currently held by Jimmy Sarjeant of Newmarket who is heading to Mercyhurst next year.

Wellington is in first place in the OJHL East Division with 72pts, and are currently nationally ranked at 11th in the CJHL top20. For comparison, Powell River (BCHL) with 2 RIT recruits (Garbowsky & Schuler) is ranked 5th.

Given the almost identical lines over the past 2 seasons, this is a pretty consistent guy. Assuming Madolora and Watson stick around next year, the Tigers should have one heck of a crew in goal.

Some more info and a link:

Ruby was named OJHL Player of the month for December 2010, and was Team Canada East goalie for the World Jr A Championships the last 2 seasons. In the 2010 championships he was in in goal for all 5 of Canada Easts games on their way to the silver. Also listed on NHL Central Scoutings list of prospects at number 26 among North American goalies. Here is a link to his bio.

He's a little tall to replace Ropponen. Seriously though, looks good. :)

Not only are his stats pretty good, he shows consistency year over year (granted, two years isn't much of a sample). That's something that the Tigers seem to struggle with at times.
