Oh yeah, that's right. He's in the ECHL, unable to crack that powerhouse Rochester Americans' roster.

To be fair, goalie is the one place the Amerks don't actually need a lot of help. Plante's usually pretty solid and Markstrom is a very good backup.

Relative to the rest of that awful mess of a team, you're right that goaltending isn't quite as bad. But it has been far from stellar. If Cheverie were the prospect one might expect a Hobey finalist to be, he should have at least had a shot at cracking a lineup consisting of a decent career AHL goalie and a kid who is making his initial adjustment to North America (and so far struggling with it, for the most part). And if you look at the ECHL goalie numbers, Cheverie's not even exactly lighting it up down there. He ranks # 21 in GAA at 3.04 and # 22 in SV % at 0.902. Note: In the same league, Jared Demichiel ranks # 5 in GAA at 2.52 and # 6 in SV % at 0.918.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Sorry to interrupt the Amherks discussion and how the Chevy has broken down, but I've got a question. A couple alum buddies are making the trek out to HoCro this weekend and have forgotten the lyrics to "We Beat Up on a Purple Hockey Team." Clearly, the important part is the chorus but I'm having trouble tracking down the verse. This, of course, is only in case the Tigers happen to do well and pull out a W (or two).

I'm a bit saddened to not be in attendance myself, seeing how we were almost baited into a fight last time I was there by 7 clearly inebriated frat boys hanging over the glass on the visitor's side boards. Fortunately, they departed midway through the second when the game was out of reach. :p

Holy Cross is better than they have been the last couple years. They finally have an offense deeper than a couple of players. That said, if RIT doesn't take at least 3 points, I would be surprised.

The Lyrics I came up with for that would have to be adjusted for a road game, but they are.

Right here, on our home ice
We have seen lot's of color schemes
Red and White, Black and Gold,
Even sometimes Blue and Green
But the one thing I can't stand
As I cheer for RIT
Is the one thing that you are
and that's a Purple Hockey Team

<Everybody Now>
We beat up on a Purple Hockey Team
a Purple Hockey Team
a Purple Hockey Team
We beat up on a Purple Hockey Team
a Purple Hockey Team
a Purple Hockey Team

I think it on RIT to get at least 3 points if not four this weekend. You don't want to give up any ground after this weekend it basically pod-trench warfare from here on out. Only games within our pod rest of year and everyone schedule is more or less the same. Its going to be a fight to the finish and I would like all the points in hand you can have before it starts...

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

RIT has already "given up" 5 points to the Eastern teams. Interetingly, the only Eastern team to not get a point against RIT is the East leader - UConn.

The Good News is, the Eastern Block has done more damage against other Western Teams. Lerchie pointed out the record of the West vs. East this week, to be honest it surprised me because I thought it would be even more lopsided. Either way 4 points would really set the tone for the Tigers for the end dance...

Well, 2 of those 4 points are in the bag with the Tigers 4-0 shutout of HC. Got to see the Tigers live for the first time this season. Be there tomorrow too. Nice to have a brother-in-law that lives 10 minutes away in Worcester.

Hope Brenner's injury isn't as bad as it looked as he tried to crawl off the ice. Looked like a knee on knee collision with him catching the worst of it.

Anyword on Brenner?

Well some good news is... Robert Morris kind of took themselves out of contention, but Niagara is still on our heels and won't let up. A positive out of this is Robert Morris next week has a home and home series with Niagara. Hopefully they can sweep Niagara. That would be best case scenario.

I wouldn't say anyone is out of contention just yet. Robert Morris has 10 games left, anything could happen.

I think the best case is that they split. I want those teams on the other side of the bracket come tournament time.

Well that sucks, we no longer have the tie breaker, it now belongs to Niagara. 3-3 tie, the Tigers need to learn how to not let in late killer goals... Lets hope Robert Morris sweeps Niagara but Air Force holds there own against both Niagara and Morris. weekend... ****...

The conference championship is important and all, but I'm much more concerned about not having to play a play-in game against Caniusis or Mercyhurst. In that respect, this weekend was a good result for RIT, despite the frustrating tie. They kept pace with Air Force, and gained two more points on Robert Morris - this weekend should end any votes RoMo was getting in the polls, that's for sure.

That Friday night nationally televised game at the Ritter in the season ending 2 game home-and-home set vs. Niagara is shaping up to be an incredibly important game.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

So.....2nd in the pod doesn't get a bye week?

Doesn't that mean two extra games at the Ritter? Win\Win!

At least two extra games for the fans to watch and an extra week of game practice for the team.

I'm pretty confident that they will take the two games if they have to play them.

2nd in the pod gets a bye. 3rd only plays 1 at home, but would likely be Top 4 overall, meaning that they host in the quarters (at least 2 games).

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

The Canucks broadcast profiled Tanev during the 1st period tonight, for those of you DVR-ing it. If somebody could possibly post it somehow, I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Also, if you're DVR-ing and don't want to know, look away.

Kevin Bieksa went down about 7 minutes into the 2nd, and may not return to the game, so Tanev should get more minutes tonight, and his prospects for staying up a little longer are looking a little better.
