RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

According to the Vancouver Sun coverage, Tanev was just supposed to warm the bench because Sami Salo is still not ready to come back, and everyone else would have to clear waivers. They asked the coach if Tanev would play Tuesday, and he said he didn't know yet.

I think the unknown factor was how serious the injury was to Alberts. The team wanted to re-evaluate today. Well, the evaluation is a separated shoulder, so now the issue is not whether or not Tanev will play but rather for how long will he be up with the Canucks. He's most probably playing tomorrow, and it may be an extended stay in Vancouver.

Hey folks, the women's team is putting their perfect record on the line against Plattsburgh this weekend. It'd be great to get several hundred fans to rock the Ritter like we did last year; they'll need all the support they can get against a very tough Cardinal squad. Saturday's game is a matinee so you can still get home in time to listen to the men play Holy Cross.

Looks like Tanev has been given # 18 for tonight for those of you who may be watching.
If you don't have Center ice or NHL gamecast, you can usually find the games on channelsurfing.net

Did any of you see the Air force Jersey they wore vs Army last week?
It was pretty nice. Simple Design and i especially liked the subtle

As for Tanev, it's not likely he'll stay up when the other guys get healthy, so you never know if his # will change later if he gets another call up.

Re: RIT 2010-11: What do Tigers dream of?

Oh snap. Tanev just made a great play to break up a 3 on 1. Sweet.

It's a little surreal to watch a guy who I used to watch at the Ritter make breakout passes to Daniel Sedin and cover Milan Hejduk.

ETA: Tanev finishes the game with 12:49, 1 shot and a -1 on a bad goal that Luongo should have had

haha it wasn't pretty, but he got the job done. he has looked good so far in limited time, i think. the commentators on my feed have liked him too, and commented on how he kept his cool and positioned himself well in the breakaway.

Saw the replay of the goal...looked a lot like the goal Army scored in the Friday night game against RIT....puck coming off of the back boards, and Luongo just plain whiffed trying to knock it to the side so it came in front. Not much a defenseman can do there.

Browsing the Canucks forum on hfboards, and there wasn't a single negative thing said about his game. Hate to get to far ahead of ourselves, but it seems like he's really got a chance to have a long and productive NHL career. Most VAN posters consider him their best defensive prospect at this point.

For playing your first NHL game, that's all you hope for in a defensemen.

Aw man, the nhl store wont let me customize a Canucks t-shirt with Tanev's name and number. BOOOOOOO!

I'd love to see him get an extended look with the big club. If he ever plays a game in their 3rd jersey, I know what I'll be buying next time a "free customization" sale rolls around.

Couple of things in the Vancouver Sun about last nights game.

Photo gallery from the game with a great pic of Tanev. Sure beats skating against AIC.....

Kind of funny his first NHL game is in DENVER, home of the team against which he scored one of the (if not THE) most important goals in RIT Men's Hockey history. Hmmm.... I wonder what has come of Denver's stud Hobey Finalist goaltender (Cheverie) against which he scored that goal... Oh yeah, that's right. He's in the ECHL, unable to crack that powerhouse Rochester Americans' roster.
Not that any of that is very important or relevant, but I found it interesting.
