Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

So I forgot to tell all of you that last Thursday two of my friends and I were kicked out of our team's baseball game due to arguing calls with the umpire..yes, we were FANS, and removed from the game. We never swore or said anything vulgar.

Today, the three of us had to meet with our activities director, and we were asked what our role was at sporting events, etc. Clearly the response is to "positively encourage your classmates and your school." We received two week suspensions from all sporting events, with an exceptionm for golf, as I play on the team. I just about **** my pants when I was told I couldve had a 2 week suspension from golf. My question to all of you is, did we get out lucky, or were we screwed?

Once again, we didn't use any vulgar terms, nothing derrogatory, etc. It was things such as, "he was safe! C'mon blue!" or " that's a strike! It's right down the middle!" "Who has control of this game?" (After a player was tossed for absolutely nothing.)

I was just curious what all of you would think. I've heard various opinions thus far, including a parent on the team who is very respectful, not one of those tool parents, who stated that he felt it's the umpire's job to do the game without letting the crowd get into his head, etc.

Mav I think you've run into an overreaction to all the over-the-top a-hole fans out there. I think the ump was out of line to report the incident or boot you from the game, but I expect he's tired of the harassment and has been told to not tolerate it any more. Personally I think he should have just warned you all and only taken further action if you kept it up.

I think this is it, really. I know I've said far worse things at high school sporting events and gotten away with it. I think you just had an ump with a bug up his azz, too. Were you saying anything else, or just calling out the errors?

He replied (with a shiat eating grin on his face) "that is where daddy hit me." Nice. :o

Has he been reading the boards? this is awesome, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more than you:D

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

Driving around with a trunk of frozen cookie dough that lil is delivering. Yup my life is exciting.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

He came home with enough boxes of the stuff to fill my freezer if it was empty. It is not.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

The Executive Chef at Chez Shot has informed me that tonight's dinner is a house favorite: homemade, multi-grain crust pizza with your own choice of toppings. Goat cheese, meatballs and crimini mushrooms are on my list. I happen to know Chez Shot's bartender made a half gallon of margs quite recently and made sure to stock several fresh limes to squeeze as a final garnish in the drinks. Some hockey on Versus. Looks like a good night is in store.:D

Good morning. Denver's cool/gray/damp season continues to start the week as temps today and tomorrow will be in the low to mid fifties with a chance of showers each day. I hope your week gets off to a good start.:)
It is off to a good start.

Ooh, what kind of cookie dough?

Good afternoon Lodge.

Little gII is healing up nicely. (Refer to post 787 if you missed it)

So......little gII can be quite the butthead at times. I took him to the ER on Saturday. The nurse was checking him out and she was making small talk with him to get him to relax. She noticed a couple little bruises on him (bruises caused from being a accident prone little boy) and asked him what happened. He replied (with a shiat eating grin on his face) "that is where daddy hit me." Nice. :o
:)

Evening, Lodge! Just pulled a margherita pizza from the oven; time to enjoy it with a glass of red wine.

"Big" special election here in DC tomorrow. It must be big because I think that every candidate's supporters has called me. :D

I'd like to see an old fart like you after he sucks down a half gallon of Margs,:D

Like your choice of music, I saw McCoy many years ago, his hands were like John Lee Hookers, ie, freakin huge. Awesome Concert, back when UMaine actually got some top acts.

waaaaaaay back in high school my sr year i got a job instead of playing basketball, but would still go to games. i started pulling the entire student section from the top of the bleachers to the first row where we would yell at the opposing team to such a horrible degree that our awful team would win games!! :D our guys would go on the road and find a packed student section waiting for us - hopefully just to yell back but maybe to fight... it was that bad. but we never went. the guys would laugh and tell me how these fans would be standing up, yelling... then two minutes into the game sitting and some yelling, then middle of the 2nd quarter all leave the gym. :D

anywhos....

during timeouts you know how the cheerleaders take turns running out and do some routine...

when the visitors' girls would go out i'd yell something like, "1-2-3-4 GET THOSE HORSES OFF THE FLOOR..." just mean and nasty, but funny to us then. the cheerleaders would stop. some would run off. we'd laugh

this one game our head cheerleader comes up to me and asks if i would not do this anymore. we were and are still friends. she also brought one of our gym/study hall teachers who played lineman at villanova before they dropped football. when she was done he told me that i was not to yell anything mean to them. the dummy left me an out.

our come out first timeout and cheer. we clap politely.

next timeout.

as they hit the floor and stop and get their pop poms on their hips and get ready to begin, i yell.

1-2-3-4 YOU'RE THE GIRLS THAT WE ADORE!
5-6-7-8 WOULD YOU GO OUT ON A DATE!

(silence)

then laughter from both sides. parents cackling. all of us rolling.

i see ole Lou across the gym by the scorers table. he is beet red... i start to get scared. this is the 80s when you could still kick a kid's *** and get away with it. halftime comes and he starts walking across... i have to stay there, right? so i sit. he comes up and isn't deep red, but colored. he only says, "you are lucky i had time to cool down. don't push it". and turns and walks away.

:D lived to play another day!

PB, Choc chip, white choc/Macadamia, Snicker doodles, Oatmeal raisin. I make cookies from scratch all the time. This seems like sacrilige to me.

i think they're replacing one of the at-large seat for Kwame... ah, DC.... if they were allowed to run city on their own they'd so run that into the ground hardcore.

Just the errors, nothing real personal or anything..trust me, we definitely would love to be much worse, but ironically, in fear of getting kicked out we had refrained..
Oh yay. Back in Grand Forks.
Have a beer.:D

This is awesome. Our student section was pretty rowdy, and we had a great following this year especially for hockey. On the road in a building we've never won in, not even when we made the State Tournament, against our biggest rival, there is some absolutely filthy things said about one another's school, etc. It seems like there are often things about girls.:o
Once BBDL gets his yard fixed he needs to invest in this: Only $99.99
This is actually really cool!!!:D

Well, we're suppose to get almost two inches of rain tomorrow, a perfect day for a golf meet. and it's supposed to be a whopping 45 degrees. Ahh, life is good in Minnesota.:p

I really hope the Kings can force game seven tonight! Time to curl up on the couch and watch some hockey!:)

Funny, guys :p

If you don't know who I'm talking about, you don't need to know. ;)
