Good morning. Denver's cool/gray/damp season continues to start the week as temps today and tomorrow will be in the low to mid fifties with a chance of showers each day. I hope your week gets off to a good start.:)

Good Morning, Lodge!

Another long week of work ahead of me. I need a vacation, or move back to Minnesota. Either one is fine with me.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

The ski season here in Colorado is approaching its end, but won't reach it until early June in the case of Loveland. Yesterday was the final day of operation in the 2010-2011 ski season for all Vail Associates owned properties. Among the areas closing after yesterday's final runs were taken was Breckenridge. On Saturday night before the final day of the ski season Breck received seven inches of snow. At closing time yesterday the mid-mountain base measured 109 inches. There is a sizable storm headed for the central mounatins of Colorado today with a significant chance of more snow later in the week.

In the many years I have lived and skied in Colorado there have only been a handful of ski seasons when the mid-mountain base measured over 100 inches at ANY time during the ski season let alone after the ski season had officially ended. I can't recall precisely, but within the past fifteen years--because there was so much snowfall AFTER the offical end of the ski season--Vail Associates reopened its major property for two weeks. Insurance difficulties make it extraordinarily difficult for a ski area to be reopened after it has been closed for the season, but if ever snow conditions warranted some Colorado ski resorts being reopened after their official closures, this is such a year. Again, I think there is next to no chance of this happening, but snowfall throughout the state this past ski season was--and continues to be--historically good.;)

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

So I forgot to tell all of you that last Thursday two of my friends and I were kicked out of our team's baseball game due to arguing calls with the umpire..yes, we were FANS, and removed from the game. We never swore or said anything vulgar.

Today, the three of us had to meet with our activities director, and we were asked what our role was at sporting events, etc. Clearly the response is to "positively encourage your classmates and your school." We received two week suspensions from all sporting events, with an exceptionm for golf, as I play on the team. I just about **** my pants when I was told I couldve had a 2 week suspension from golf. My question to all of you is, did we get out lucky, or were we screwed?

Once again, we didn't use any vulgar terms, nothing derrogatory, etc. It was things such as, "he was safe! C'mon blue!" or " that's a strike! It's right down the middle!" "Who has control of this game?" (After a player was tossed for absolutely nothing.)

I was just curious what all of you would think. I've heard various opinions thus far, including a parent on the team who is very respectful, not one of those tool parents, who stated that he felt it's the umpire's job to do the game without letting the crowd get into his head, etc.

Same conditions in ANC. We're just wrapping up the "breakup" phase of spring.

It's completely possible that the schools hands were tied by state high school rules governing fan behavior. In that the school bureaucratically was required to support/enforce the officials decision with supplementary punishment even if the original punishment was unwarranted.

In any case: Life isn't fair, deal with it.

Yeah, I totally understand, and to be honest it doesn't really matter all THAT much to me, us three are just the baseball "superfans" as our core group of friends are baseball players. I'm just curious as to what the take of others is:p I completely understand both sides, and it is was it is. Personally I'm just glad we didn't get suspended from school or for me, golf.

Mav I think you've run into an overreaction to all the over-the-top a-hole fans out there. I think the ump was out of line to report the incident or boot you from the game, but I expect he's tired of the harassment and has been told to not tolerate it any more. Personally I think he should have just warned you all and only taken further action if you kept it up.

That's the truth! I forgot to mention we were never warned either.

I have been waiting for UPS to get here all day (the package was supposed to be here by 3pm).  So annoying.

On the plus side, I got a job offer today at a local ambulance company. Orientation is on Wed & Thursday this week. Good thing I scheduled my car to be serviced on Wednesday.
I'm going back to bed.

At least the little snots are not testing you because you can't escalate the punishment...

True - a bonus to having been laid off.
Still waiting on the package. It's the title to my car, which I wanted to get registered today. I *can* do it tomorrow, but I wanted to do it today.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

Good afternoon Lodge.

Little gII is healing up nicely. (Refer to post 787 if you missed it)

So......little gII can be quite the butthead at times. I took him to the ER on Saturday. The nurse was checking him out and she was making small talk with him to get him to relax. She noticed a couple little bruises on him (bruises caused from being a accident prone little boy) and asked him what happened. He replied (with a shiat eating grin on his face) "that is where daddy hit me." Nice. :o

When I was younger my brother and I were both accident prone and had to go in for a number of stiches and x-rays and the like. One time they took my parents out of the room and seperated me and my brother and asked " Does mommy or daddy hit you?" I don't think joking scarcasm would have gone over very well. Hopefully you don't get a visit from child protective services.
