Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

Morning everybody! Got the turkey in the smoker right now and cooking it up for dinner. It's going to be so tasty!!

Me too! Injected it with garlic oil and some other spices last night. Have apple wood chips in the smoke box and lemon, rosemary, nutmeg and cinnamon in the water pan. Smells delish right now. Hope I can wait till 5.:D

Also. finally looks like spring in MN. Warm and sunny here. Time to get the screen porch fixed and cleaned up. Installing a new ceiling fan/light now.

:D
I've gone plaid.

Only 81 so far today on the beach with a 90% chance of beer.

Only a 90% chance of beer? I hope that the other 10% is a chance of a nice beach-type mixed drink.

Apple pannekoekens and ham make for a wonderful Easter dinner.

It's gorgeous out in cake-eater country.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

Happy Easter, Lodge.

Roasted lamb chops with boiled potatoes and peas and steamed asparagus: delicious.

Tonight's dinner will involve bacon somehow.

I think I'm in food coma. My mom outdid herself. Roast lamb, rice pilaf, dolmathes (stuffed grapeleaves), avgolemono soup, spanakopita, tiropita, salad, lasagna and fried chicken tenders (for my nieces). And she forgot to put out the string beans. Having some fruit now to cleanse the palate before the desserts come out. And the cracking of the eggs.

Burrrrppp!!!
Mmmmmmmm.... Turkey!!

I envy you guys... tonight will be spaghetti... nothing special. Mom and Dad gave me a date when they'll be coming down in August... they figure one day for me to show them around the city (only a day?!) and the other to be with their dear child... would be nice if I could get a home cooked meal for a day.

Is it bad if I don't think I've heard of almost any of that food?:p

We had the easter ham yesterday, today our family just got the fire going in the backyard to enjoy this weather, busted out the brats and hotsdogs, and we had an old fashioned cabin style cookout. :) smores for dessert too:)

If only I had a beer...;)

Go Toews!

What is the soup?

I am in a food coma too. Lamb marinated in herbs, lemon and garlic, lots of yummy appetizers, Chocolate gnache cake and lemon tart w/ rasp sauce for dessert. Everyone is gone. Now to kick back and read my book.

Is it not possible for you to go visit your parents?

Avgo=egg, lemono=lemon. Made with chicken broth and rice. Next season before a game you should go to the Olympia and try it. Yummy!

I've only had stuffed grape leaves once, but now I want them again.

I should have gone to either of your homes for Easter.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

I was a little disappointed in my smoked turkey. Looked fantastic, smelled even better, but I thought the white meat was little on the dry side. I think I need to inject more liquid the night before. In the past I think I used beer and oil with the spices and injected more of it. I need a new injector, the needle on my good one sprang a leak and the one I used is much harder to use.:(

The baked cauliflower and fresh baked bread my wife made were fantastic though.:)

They came out really good. She got the grape leaves from their neighbor across the street. He let her go into his yard to pick them in return for a plate of them. She was happy to oblige. I brought stuff home - lamb for sandwiches this week, the grape leaves, and some pastries. Which is good as I didn't go food shopping this weekend. :)

I'll be honest, I'm not really a HUGE Blackhawks fan by any means, I like the team because I love Toews, who's my favorite player..but man am I nervous right now. I'm on the edge of my seat, lovin' it. Playoff hockey, there's nothing better.:)

Go Toews!
