Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 99: You can get anything you want, at Fooper's Restaurant.

i can't wait until tax season... filing in 3 states but I should get a fair bit of my money back... especially seeing as how the feds sucked up a fair bit of my signing bonus.

Anybody use H&R block or anything else... i'd rather not shell out like $150 to do my returns but my work situation makes things strange. I'd rather just use TurboTax software or something.

TurboTax worked great for me. Also, check to see if your state(s) allow you to use TurboTax Freedom Edition (no fees for those below $30,000ish Adjusted Gross Income.)

TT wanted to charge me about $51 to file federal and state returns, even though I don't have to file a state return. H&R Block was free for the federal and they wanted $10 for my state return, but I said I'd do it later...like when pigs fly. :p

This was the online version, not the store-bought CD.

I should get my return direct deposited the end of next week.

I use TurboTax website. Usually works fine. I don't have most of my documents yet, including my W2, so I'm still waiting to get started.

I just go with my family's accountant, mom-pop shop, pay about $50 and support small business while knowing my taxes are done right.

This is the time of year where I kick back, relax, and thank whatever's up there that my dad is an accountant.

I know! I thought I was going to lose the screen door earlier (it wasn't latched). Brutal out there. Most importantly, no satellite tv interruption. :)

is the wind coming off the water there?

I originally went to school to become an accountant. I decided that I should change majors when I couldn't stay awake during those classes.

It's actually swirling. There's a wind that's coming off the water and what sounds like a gust sweeping across the back of the house. Sounds like the bulk is coming from the North?

So, I played rugby tonight for the first time. Holy crap if that's not going to get me to quit smoking, I don't know what is. We played with the boys, I'm pretty sure I have a concussion, I have a bruise the size of two softballs on my thigh, and I can't WAIT for practice on Monday. It's just one of those things that you fall in love with instantly. Did an indian run and kept up pretty well, and actually set a faster pace than most of the boys did, which was pretty awesome. I guess I'm not as out of shape as I thought I was. :)

Same here, my mom hates this time of year but loves the paychecks she gets but since she does my taxes for me, michigan has the most retarded state form ever, i dont complain at all for how long it takes her to get them done

Don't you love quotes out of context? :D

I'll look at that.

How does tax season work for the pilots? Where do they consider you making your income? Home base? any location you fly from?

I just used that to get the ballpark figures... so I get the benefit of having approximates without paying them. There are subtle things i notice about turbo tax... for instance they usually fail to take a college fee deduction from connecticut.

it's a pain in the ***, and basically the government continues to hump me into submission.

You pay state taxes based on where you live. Since our per-diem is less than what the government allocates as daily per-diem, we can claim that...but other than that, it's no different than normal.
