Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

So, when they laid off the paralegal yesterday, they assumed that the rest of the staff was going to pick up the slack. I'm officially totally just...floored, shocked, ... there aren't words. That woman received 60+ phone calls a day, in addition to actually doing work as a paralegal.

I'm beyond crying - I think I'm just numb.

I'm getting a mani/pedi tonight and when I get home, I'm drinking a bottle of wine and eating steak.

'ewe, just plead - sorry, no capacity. You'll have to do it yourself. We're all in the same boat. - Worst case, YOU get laid off and collect u/e for a couple months while enjoying the winter w/o commuting. ;)
Yeah Ewe, you guys just all need to band together, and tell Management there that they should be picking up the **** slack. Whats the worse they can do, can the whole lot of you??

So I decide to burn 4 hours of leave and give myself what amounts to a 4-day weekend. Good idea, right?

WRONG!

I decide to start the weekend by treating myself to some Sonic. On the way back, some chucklehead not paying attention plows into the Chevy Avalanche behind me, sending her into my rear bumper.

Now I get to waste my time running around Cheyenne filling out accident forms.
Ouch!!! MurderDeathKill would be too dang nice to do to an idiot that would ruin somebody's four day weekend that just started out with some Sonic. A thimble of flesh taken from him every day for a year would be better. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Oh, and did I mention that there's a winter storm warning out, and Cheyenne is expecting 3 to 7 inches of snow?

Eff this noise. I had more fun in Houghton.

*hits the Ditty and burns a kitty*

I have no ill will toward my manager

For his sake, I'm glad.

Yes. :(

'ewe's situation sucks, royally, but there's law students out there willing to do anything to be hired. These bastiges know that, and will work the entire office like a sweatshop until their workers quit, get sick/die, or until the place goes out of business.

Light snow expected overnight in MSP as well...

And heavier snow in a few days. Apparently ecbrevik's getting hammered pretty hard right now, if he's still in Dickinson anyway.

Afternoon, Lodge. At least it's a wonderful afternoon out today, and I suspect it'll be even nicer tonight when I'm sitting around a campfire with friends and beer.

True, but turnover with freshly minted students would be pretty high, and well, Ewe would be better off not working in that stink hole. Some other sucker can deal with those bozos.

Trying to decide what I want to do for dinner tonight.

I agree. Mostly with some other sucker needing that stress more than her.

Fixed that for ya ;)

In a new twist, I've been given an opportunity to interview for a similar job at the paper mill in Becker, MN as a business analyst. When it was mentioned during my exit yesterday, I interpreted it as a new hire scenario, not a transfer. Apparently they have requested me to come talk to them, which is flattering. I'd do software maintenance and installs, and I'd also do hardware and telcom. All my seniority and benefits would be bridged. I'm not crazy about putting 60 milles a day on my truck, but it's a great place to work and I know the staff there really well. I will meet with the GM when I get back from grouse hunting to discuss this option.
He's grouse hunting up north next week too. :)

*knocks on wood too*

Good luck! I put 60 miles on my Jeep every day, it's not great for the truck (nor cheap) but the payoff is worth it. Hopefully this new position will work out for you.

Also, don't accidentally shoot the GM. ;)

Geez, I dunno. Might be an easy way to create an opening in upper management. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Well, today was a **** sandwich, but the evening is off to a pleasing start. Hopefully there won't be a rant on the D-1 side tonight. Hopefully...

Bribe him with free eggs. :D

Get there, man.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

BPH - you are correct. We have no recourse. I'm just hanging in there until January, when school starts.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Yep. Definitely no rant on the D-1 side tonight out of me. Very much pleased.
