Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Morning Lodge
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I have no ill will toward my manager, or the IT Director, who were both in tears when they called me into the dreaded conference room. Five of us got it. A couple of people with as much time in as me. We were told that the Mexicali project was on hold for 1-2 years, and there simply wasn't any work. We all got generous severance packages including several months of COBRA paid and a weeks pay for each year served. They also said that we were the first wave of layoffs that they would definitely hire back if things picked up again.
Although it's still a brutal event, I'm kind of intrigued to see what lies ahead. I have some time to think about this and maybe try something new before my prime earning years are over.
A few additional points:
I'm not wasting any eggs ;)
I am still going hunting. The guy I'm going with is a truly great friend who called me last night (He works at one of the divisions, 35 year man) and said it's important that we do this, and I completely agree.
Mrs Gonzo is an excellent advisor.
Thanks again. I'll be fine :)

Mrs Gonzo is an excellent advisor.

So, that's what the baby boomers are calling it these days. :p

Going hunting is a good thing. Pulling the trigger and firing off a few rounds is always a good source of stress relief.

So, that's what the middle aged, married folk are calling it these days. :p

Sorry to hear about your luck, Gonzo. :(
If I ever get back into town for a game, there's a round on me.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Morning lodge.

It's been a looong week. I'm planning to reward myself for living through it by purchasing copious amounts of tasty beer. I'm open to suggestions for things I should try. We've got a pretty decent wine and beer store nearby that has a huge selection.

Wexford Irish Cream Ale is already on the list. I've also been meaning to try Delirium Tremens.

Any other suggestions?

/probably should have posted this in the drinking thread. Oh well.

So, when they laid off the paralegal yesterday, they assumed that the rest of the staff was going to pick up the slack. I'm officially totally just...floored, shocked, ... there aren't words. That woman received 60+ phone calls a day, in addition to actually doing work as a paralegal.

I'm beyond crying - I think I'm just numb.

I'm getting a mani/pedi tonight and when I get home, I'm drinking a bottle of wine and eating steak.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Looking forward to the Denver-Vermont series in Magness Arena this weekend which opens the Pioneers' regular season. Some members of each of the fifty-nine previous DU hockey teams will be back on campus this weekend as Denver celebrates its sixtieth season of college hockey. I'm told that the captain of DU's first team is alive and well and will be dropping a ceremonial first puck between DU captain Rhett Rakhshani and Vermont's captain before this evening's contest.

On a baseball note with an eye toward Saturday night's game between the Rockies and Phillies is this weather forecast from this morning's Denver Post."First pitch is scheduled for 7:37 P.M., it will be cloudy and cold with freezing drizzle and flurries possible. Winds will be light out of the east at 5-10 mph and temps will tumble out of the mid 30s to the low 30s and high 20s during the game." Yeah, temps in the high 20s.....snow flurries....sounds like a hitter's paradise to me.

Brainiac that he is, I'm guessing baseball commissioner, Butt Sealant, will show up in a short sleeve shirt and pronounce it a fine night to play ball. Geez, maybe the teams can play to a thirteen inning tie, eh commish?

I hope you get to see your favorite college hockey team in action this weekend.....even if you're idiotic enough to travel to Alaska to do so, WTW. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Where does Hockey East find these skating clowns that they call refs?

Jack Parker's house. (*rimshot*)

I'm sorry that RPI got hosed, but that generally reflects the way I feel about ECAC officials, so it all evens out.

Gonzo- Would have any interest in coming to Roslindale MA and distracting a cat? Sorry...

320land weather update. Tonight: Snow showers likely, mainly between 10pm and 4am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. West wind between 6 and 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Home sweet home. Rainy and miserable, but likely going out to the bar with a friend who just turned 21 this past week tonight, possibly for the Yanks game.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 85: Pants or no Pants?

Nice.

The cool thing about the AF/BSU series is that the coaches are brothers. The two teams actually get together and hang out for a bit when they play. When the series was in BJI (during the winter) they would take a trip to an area lake and do some ice fishing.

Brrr. Here's it's sunny and warm - about 80 degrees right now, not a cloud in the sky :D

When Frank Serratore was at DU he was overmatched for the job. Since taking over the AFA program he's done a top flight job making the Falcons strong contenders to go to the NCAA tourney on a yearly basis. Although DU's all-time record versus air Force is something along the lines of 23-2, many of the games in recent years have been close. The Flacons even manhandled the Pioneers two years agao in the CIA [Cadet Ice Arena]. I'll be going to that game in February next year.

gmann, better have some strong liquor handy as it'll be a tough weekend for you. Twins versus Yanks. Beavs versus the Falcons. The Golden Golfers versus the Boilermakers. Maybe mil, bil and fil could come over and give you a group hug. :p

Have a good weekend.

I make 3-4 Air Force games a year. Frank and I actually go way back to when he was with the Minnesota Moose. He even invited me and Quiz to come skate with the team at some point this year. :)

So, that's what the young kids are calling it today.

I should just start adding this at the end of every post I make. :p

Yes, that's what the young kids are calling it nowadays.
