Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

Today and tomorrow is the NESN/WEEI Jimmy Fund radio telethon to raise money for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Their goal this year is $5 million; they're at about $1.1 million now, and they stress that small donations are big - of the $4.8 million they raised last year, 88% of it was donations of $100 or less. So, a $10-$20 donation may seem like a drop in the bucket, but it adds up. (And yes, I am practicing what I preach; I chipped in $10.)

To learn more about the telethon/donate

More about the Jimmy Fund

And, I know this seems like a local event for the Boston area (WEEI is a local sports radio station, NESN is a local sports TV station, and it's in conjunction with the Red Sox), but it is definitely a national event. There have been donations from all 50 states, and from numerous celebrities. So please, spread the word among your friends and families and coworkers.

It is semi-official (an associate thought it would be good to give me a heads up, I've yet to hear anything from my bosses); they're interviewing and I'm going to be let go/fired/whatever. I'm trying to scramble with job applications, but I'm not sure that I'll get enough out in time. I'm also not sure how unemployment works, so I feel very much up the creek without a paddle. :(
Sorry, 'ewe. :(

Best of luck to you. :(

That makes it feel a little inappropriate to mention that I received a phone call an hour and a half ago, and was offered the position I've been talking about. I go in tomorrow to read/sign the contract and I start next Monday. :)
Congrats on the job! :)

Hi, Lodge!
Uh, hey.

A long argument about "stoop" vs. "porch"
Fade to Black and Gold got a job
I'm losing mine
wolverineTrumpet bought a house
bigmrg74 got stepped on (in the head) by a horse
Ralph had a false tooth pulled and has to have it replaced
Dude Love got anonymous porn in the mail
tcbg won at poker (and tried to turn the thread in TRP 2005/2006)
Michigan did not field a good football team last year (and may not this year)
Patman is soon moving to Washington DC
Ted Kennedy died
tDarkness did well on the GMAT
That sounds about right.

Finally got around to baking muffins today, only to have to throw them out when I discovered they were undercooked. Nothing left to do now but try again...

Sorry to hear that :( . When I got laid off in 2001 I got a part-time job right away as an interim thing. At least in Wisconsin (probably nationwide too) you can work part-time (less than 28 or maybe 32 hours?) and still get your full unemployment compensation. It helps to make up the difference since unemployment doesn't = your full salary (plus it keeps you busy while you're looking for a new job).

So maybe check that angle out. :)

The horse hit me with its head, not its feet. Its going to have to be one friggen huge horse to step on top of my head. :p
What happens when you miss a line in your response....
Glad I'm not the only one that notice that as well. ;) :D

Good suggestion, I hadn't even thought of that. My part-time job at the ballet starts up October 1st, so even if I work there a few nights a week that should help.

To keep up the awesomeness of this story, my boss asked me to come in at 7:30 this morning (I normally start at 8:30) so that I could continue to transcribe the tapes of the brief he's writing. I get in and am ready to go (computer and transcription machine on) at 7:27 and...no tape. I look in his office, on my desk, ask my other boss (who has been here since 6am), nothing. I call him on his cellphone to ask where it is...he forgot to leave it for me. It's in his his bag and he'll be in "shortly". Now, he lives 45 minutes away (assuming there isn't any traffic), and it didn't sound like he was in the car... *sigh* And the other boss has asked if I'm available to work this weekend on this brief (it's due Monday).

Are you sure they're actually replacing you and not just hiring more help. Because it sounds like you're being a much better employee then I will ever be.

My head and my stomach are giving the world a great big middle finger, and the rest of me is inclined to agree.

And 'ewe, your office is about two elephants and a bearded goatwoman away from being a circus.

I think this assessment is pretty generous.

I think you should view this as a blessing, devote the next couple of weeks into finding a new job and you'll probably end up better off.

Are you out of your head? Why not ask them why they would be asking you to do these things when you have heard they plan on replacing you. They sound like real *****s milking you fro everything before they can you. That is cold.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! friday is here but not over.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

'ewe, you need to get in that office and ask him what is going on with the other innerview and what you heard from the other peep about yer job. Now.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

Good morning Lodge.

I have been out of the loop the last couple days.

Stoop vs. porch. w t f ? ;)

Sorry ewe. IMHO you should address the rumors head on and try to get some resolution ASAP.

Bigmrg74. If that was my horse I would have made a trip to China town with it, if you know what I mean. :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 81: Trickle-Down Lodganomics

Here's the other issue re: coming in early and the weekend. If you refuse they may try to bust your *** for insubordination and try to fight your unemployment claim. Judging from what we've been told here, this group of imbeciles might try something like that.

Proceed with caution.
