Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Not to mention planning a ttp for one of the bestest programs in D1 hockey is always a good time. ;)

It's nice of you to plan a ttp for Tech.

Planning ttp's for BSU is going to become more frequent once they jump ship from the superior CHA to the inferior wcha. ;)

In fact, Tech's basement just got a little darker and deeper. :p

As for the teasing, it no doubt will get worse over time and will probably never go away. It hurts me as a parent because you want to protect your child but the reality of it makes it nearly impossible.

The teasing won't go away, but those that can rise above the teasing become incredibly strong, self-assured individuals. It's amazing to see.

Morning lodge!

gmann, I know exactly what you mean. My oldest has some speech issues and gets teased by some kids for it. Its tough to watch.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Morning lodge, just got into St. Clair, should be here for 8 hours or so, unless something unforeseen happens, then it's 8 hours down to Monroe to unload there tonight. It's pleasant weather now, but rain is threatening throughout the day.

Seconded Les, VFW's around me do bingo as well, must be that eastern bias?;)

I want to marry me a ship captain. His work will keep him out of my hair.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I work with dopes. Had a girl here walk by the fax machine and heard it dialing out and asked, in all seriousness, "Who's using AOL?". I envy gmann and his monkeys.

Morning Lodge

Quick post before I get really busy today!

:D :D :D

I have a pair of Tony Llamas, brown beef shoulder leather bottoms and black goat leather tops with fancy hand stitching in the goat leather. They are pretty awesome and extremely comfortable. I wasn't expecting to be able to get them since cowboy boots in my size are rare, but when I got to the store and saw that they had these in a size 15 I really couldn't pass it up. But Twitch probably won't want to go this far when it comes to boots, I paid $300 for this pair.:o

edit: why did my USCHO account just switch to mountain time?
Yeah, at a size 15, you're proably just going to go with whatever you can find in your size. I have been thinking about getting a new pair for myself to us for a little req more req riding around here and in a pinch be worn for interviews perhaps. The old pair I have now are about a size too small and I can just barely get my feet into them. Luckly, I'm a 12, which is right about the top end for most commonly carried sizes.

Despite evidence to the contrary -- I'm having an awesome day.
Feel rejuvinated by the walk last night and am moving the first boxes into the new place tomorrow (and putting up the paint chips to see how they look).

:p
:(

Nathan -- the sandwich sounds like it's to die for. Since "amazing boyfriend" just purchased my first skillet for me, this sounds like the perfect way to repay him. (okay, okay -- second perfect way :p )

Also, "like" bothers me (in addition to "umm"s).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Wow, work is crazy down here! I can see now that my location does not have nearly as much stress as they have here at "the mothership":p
I was so busy today I only posted once, early in the morning, and the day flew by. It was kinda overwhelming with work and driving from location to location, meetings, lunch with supervisors, supervisor's supervisor, and supervisor's supervisor's supervisor.

Now I think I'm going out on this small town for a drink and a good hearty dinner on the company's dime.:D

My Calc II class we had a foreign Grad Instructor. I was easily bored in class and made a habit of counting the number of times he'd say, "you see", "ok", and "umm". I think the class was 50 minutes long and often the number would top 60 for the class. Sometimes he'd get in 15 filler words in 4 minutes.

My favorite story from that class is still how someone asked to review a homework problem which happened to be a word problem and the instructor's answer was, "I no know how to say".
I had a professor at Tech, easily the best prof I ever had at Tech, that said "right" about every other word. We tried to count how many times he said it one period, the guy keeping track gave up after about 130 times.
It's nice of you to plan a ttp for Tech.
Thumbs Up!!!!!

So I re-installed Trillian because AIM was being a bowl of dicks...and it still had a less-than-savory old away message up from the desperation period of my job hunt.

Unfortunately, the discoverer of this fact was Sloe Gin

I'm back, baby, please insert liquor! (Ok, not really "back", because I don't feel like I "left". And, I'm not sure how regularly I'll be posting.) Also, centered, because it's the middle of the year.

I was once advised to use "now" in place of "um" when speaking publicly and searching for words. It sounds better - like you're pausing for effect, not because you're searching.

I'm not sure what kind of Lodge you think this is, so let's get one thing straight. I'll pass you a bottle, but I'm not inserting anything.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

My brother's flight's delayed. So, I wound up coming home to wait. Hopefully it doesn't get delayed any more.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

That bottom Dagwood looks a lot better than the turkey sandwich I made for lunch today.

Or, I could drive all the way to Minneapolis and try the meterwurst with cabbage and croquettes I saw on Man vs. Food last night. Might take me a few days to get through it, but I need to eat something...

The meterwurst is awesome. In fact, anything you get at that place rules. There was one about 1/2 hour west of me (Montrose, for those who are familiar with the Cities) that my friends and I would go to about once every two months and just gorge ourselves. Unfortunately, I hear they closed up shop, and the only Gasthof is the one in Nordeast Mpls.

I could go for some spatzle right now. :(

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

a) It got confused with the talk of cowboy boots.
b) It thinks you should be doing less talkin' and more mountin' :p

Morning, Lodge. In a couple of hours I'm going up north to see the girlfriend, then on to a wedding in Toronto (in your family tree, Twitch). First order of business when I get to my girlfriend's town: helping her find a cat that ran away from the house she's sitting. :(

It'll still be a fun trip though, and the Hockey Hall of Fame will be awesomeness incarnate.
If that is the first thing you do you need to reorder your priorities.

Good morning Lodge.

Went to the Dr. yesterday and picked up little g's hearing aid. He hates it! I am sure that over time he will get accustomed to it.

I am going to whine for a bit as it was sort of a frustrating day for me yesterday. Hearing aids, pt, ot, speech therapy, swim therapy, picked up a handicapped permit for parking, sorted through mountains of paperwork for insurance and then researched online for a pediatric commode because little g is going to have a hell of a time learing how to use the toilet. Meanwhile, Little g's peers are playing baseball, going to swimming lessons and such. To top it off we had some friends over for dinner last night. A couple of the kids (ages four and five) were teasing little g because he "walks funny" when using his walker. These kids were not trying to be mean they were just stating the obvious as that is what kids do. Raising a child with special needs can be stressful for various reasons and at times it can be a hard pill to swallow. End of whining.
.

Thanks.

I always try to keep things in perspective and by nature I am an optimistic person. Little g has come a long way and he continues to make progress and things could be worse. Much worse.

Little g is an incredible person and as his father I am so proud of him. However, there is not a day that goes by in which I tell myself that this entire situation f ing sucks.

As for the teasing, it no doubt will get worse over time and will probably never go away. It hurts me as a parent because you want to protect your child but the reality of it makes it nearly impossible...;)
Hugs. It is really hard when they are this age. It does suck because as parents we know all the things they can't do/arent able to do. If they said something once then that is a teachable moment. After that it is being a ****ant.

It is really hard when your kid starts to realize that they are different. Just keep pounding away that every kid has something they are good at. little g has some talents those other kids don't. Also if they were to try and do what he is doing they might not find it so easy! I used to tell L'il when the kids teased him for his issues that those kids were not being very nice now and that was sad. Hopefully their grownups will teach them better manners and they will learn not to say things that hurt feelings. Now he is older and kids are deliberately cruel we point out that kids that need to say those things can't be very happy because if you are happy with yourself you don't spend lots of time focusing on how much other people are not perfect. We did learn no matter what to acknowledge that it felt bad that the kids said that stuff and we were sad they were saying it.

the sailors say "winger, you're a fine girl. what a good wife you would be. but my life, my love and my lady...is the sea." :D
Thanks for the ear worm:mad:
