Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Hi gang. I logged in and its been 3 months since I've been here, holy cow! Guess I got a little busy.

Lots of fun traveling so far this summer. My last few weeks have been a little insane. Left on June 13 for the big trip. Drove from Dickinson to Louisville, KY for a couple of days to see >30's brother, from there to Roanoak VA to visit one of my aunts, then to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on from there to Valdosta to see friends, and then to Mobile for a week with the parents. From there we took the kids back to their mom's house in Tampa for their year with her, and continued south to the Everglades.

Turned back north for Dickinson from there, getting back to Dickinson on July 6th. Spent a wopping 6 days in town (and managed to sandwich in a tornado that tore up the south part of Dickinson pretty well) before jumping back in the car and taking a group of students to Washington State on a field trip. Hit North Cascades National Park, Olympic National Park, Mount Saint Helens, Mount Rainier, and the Channeled Scablands. Pretty much did a circle around the state of Washington over the course of 10 days, doing neat stuff like going to glaciers, walking for a mile and a half underground through a lava tube, and checking out the rainforest. Got back last night. All in all, >30 and I went from the Everglades to the NW corner of Washington, by car, in less than 2 weeks.

So, there's my summer in a nutshell so far. How is everyone else doing?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Is that part of the thesis? :D

this is side work but it is done through grant money... the indoctrination phase is over. They can bone a man in about 3 minutes on my command. Its quite breath-taking to witness on a high speed camera.

(as for the dissertation... that's coming along as well... 4 weeks to defense day)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Still alive. :)

Stupid question: how much does a recumbent bike cost (an average one)?

I used to be into cycling, but not so much anymore. A recumbent has always interested me though.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Excellent, good luck!

yeah, we don't exactly have a title yet... meh :p I got to 99 pages today. 1 more and I'm done (not that easy... probably another 5 or 6... gotta figure what to put in there.)

One thing at a time. Its stressful leading up to the defense, but its a great feeling when your committee finally tells you you're done! :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

Evening lodgers, just got into Monroe, now time to sleep for the next 7 hours or so before it begins again tomorrow back up to Lake Huron.

I have never looked into them because I would feel uncomfortable being so low when riding on roads. I would think that, like everything else, there is a wide range of prices, but probably they are more expensive, on average, than other bikes because they don't sell as many.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

I have been tempted by the pending Cash for Clunkers plan. I drive an 11 year old Subaru. Only about 90k on the clock (commuter car with fairly short commutes). I asked the wife about trading in earlier when the dealers were all offering great deals and mine needed a grand worth of work on it. Wife said "let's keep it" (she doesn't drive it ;) ). Since, it has needed another grand, then another $300 on it.:(

It won't qualify under the program, but what if I went on Craig's list and offered to trade straight up for a real clunker? Then I trade it in for the $4,500. ;)
I'm sure there's somebody out there that would take you up on that offer. See what offers you can get.

Ohhhh the conspiracy.

about an hour from leaving St. Clair, it has rained most of the afternoon. Should be to Monroe sometime after midnight.
eh, just drizzled off and on all day here and in Ann Arbor as well today. We could really used some more of it.

Saw a girl at the intersection of State and Eisenhower in AA today, bearly looked 18. I couldn't tell if she was trying to hitch or trying to hook. neither would have really surprised me.

Reason 269 that I am not looking forward to China:

Weather forecast:
Sunday: Scattered thunderstorms possible. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 80s.
Monday: Scattered thunderstorms possible. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 80s.
Tuesday: Scattered thunderstorms likely. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 80s.
Wednesday: Scattered thunderstorms likely. Highs in the low 90s and lows in the low 80s.
Yeah, you're not going to like that at all, considering how cool its been this summer.

Evening Lodge!

It's Frontier Days here in Cheyenne (basically Frontier Days is to Cheyenne as Winter Carnival is to Tech.) I burned some comp time and went to the rodeo to watch a bunch of ****ed-off bulls throw people 10 feet in the air. Pretty fun stuff. I think I'll pass on Taylor Swift and Kellie "Is Europe A Country?" Pickler, though.

I own a cowboy hat now too. It might just replace the hot dog.
Nothing will ever replace the hotdog hat. You just don't get the reaction you get from a hotdog hat that you get from a thrown cowboy hat.

I would also recommend you get yourself some cowboy boots as well. Don't go fancy with them and get one of those exotic leather dye jobs. I've seen some of those and well, they're hideous and a dead giveaway for being a Poser there. Something simple, probably something like a Justin Roper perhaps, in black or a dark brown perhaps. Might not be such a bad idea for you to think about how they would look at a fancy business meeting out there as well.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 78: The Rep Lodge Yacht club.

*shakes head*

At least it's not a cowbell somehow attached to a hockey helmet...

Who would do something stupid like that?
doh- never enough cowbell!

(WAY too much stuff crammed into a few weeks)

Hi Rock Doc! we were wondering where you were. I was not training attack ducks. We went to the state where wally comes from on and off, did L'ils room over, and are now in negotiations (Mr and I) about doing the bathroom over as it is is serious need of repair not just a face lift.

Hi boys!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! thursty thursd'y is here

Morning Lodge

Quick post before I get really busy today!

:D :D :D

I have a pair of Tony Llamas, brown beef shoulder leather bottoms and black goat leather tops with fancy hand stitching in the goat leather. They are pretty awesome and extremely comfortable. I wasn't expecting to be able to get them since cowboy boots in my size are rare, but when I got to the store and saw that they had these in a size 15 I really couldn't pass it up. But Twitch probably won't want to go this far when it comes to boots, I paid $300 for this pair.:o

edit: why did my USCHO account just switch to mountain time?

a) It got confused with the talk of cowboy boots.
b) It thinks you should be doing less talkin' and more mountin' :p

Morning, Lodge. In a couple of hours I'm going up north to see the girlfriend, then on to a wedding in Toronto (in your family tree, Twitch). First order of business when I get to my girlfriend's town: helping her find a cat that ran away from the house she's sitting. :(

It'll still be a fun trip though, and the Hockey Hall of Fame will be awesomeness incarnate.
