Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #2*2*7*6: It's Summer, why is there MATHS?!

That's what's I was thinking. Or we could drive down to MOA and take it north. ;)

What a game 6...........;
For how long do you want to ride the train? There's a park-and-ride at 28th Ave, and another with good amounts of parking at Fort Snelling. Technically, you're not allowed to park at the MOA just to ride the train; they post signs saying that your car can be towed if they observe you doing this. If you want a good seat, I'd suggest either the MOA (they have to catch you, right?) or the 28th Ave station. The trains aren't usually as crowded for the Twins as they are for football games. So you got that going for you, which is nice.

ETA: Here's a link to the rail line map, that includes approximate timings between stops. http://metrotransit.com/blue-line-map

Welp, missed the last connecting flight to Tampa (that left an hour+ after my original connecting flight with an hour layover) by about 10 minutes. They had just finished boarding the plane, doors were closed.

So, my choices were be stranded at Atlanta Intl overnight with nothing open, or tell airtran to shove it, rent a car and drive 7 hours. I'm sitting in a VW beetle at mcd's grabbing food and driving home.

I only had $5 in this flight, so no loss there. Southwest RapidReward miles FTW.

I'd do just about anything to avoid spending a night in an airport. This includes an $80 cab ride (with tip) from airport to home. Yes, did this last winter.

Thanks. It doesn't matter how long the ride is. I'm not that familiar with the rail system and I was hoping there was something just a little north of mpls and just off 94 or 694 etc. that we could have jumped on just to take the kids on it. Going to MOA was an attempt at a little humor. Coming in on 94 from the west and then going to MOA would be a little bit out of our way. I love my kids but not that much. :) Unless we get a room on that side of town...........

Closest one to 694 would be the Fridley stop for Northstar. Train could be somewhat full by then, seeming it is the last stop.

$207 rental car here. Doesn't help that I'm 24 and 10+ months old, thus still have to pay a $25 underage driver fee. Stupidest rule. Ever.

The Northstar line doesn't get filled up. It's much more expensive than the LET with fewer stops. A coworker of my takes it from the first station and he says that it usually gets about half filled.

Yeah, we've heard about how you drive so I beg to differ... and I know how I drove back when I was 24-25 so I side with the insurance and rental companies on this one. :p

I think the cell networks (Verizon) around work are ****ed up. The last 2 days I haven't gotten 4G at work, and the 3G cuts in and out. It will be good for a minute or 2, then cut out for 10 seconds, before coming back fo full service. I noticed it because I'm streaming iheartradio, and the radio stops working for about 10 seconds then comes back. I used to have very good quality 4G here, and I still have solid 4G at home, that doesn't cut out. I wonder if something with the cell network got ****ed up by the storm.

Does your company pay more for their insurance when you are at the helm? :)

I've actually tamed down my driving quite a bit in the last 2-3 years, thank you very much. I still might push the speed limit a little, but usually only 7 over, or whatever the flow of traffic is doing. And I still have no accidents, my fault or another driver.

Are there wreckless mid-20's drivers? You bet. And they ruin it for the rest of us.

Amen to this. I had to drive a halfway broken Jeep until 2011 simply because of that age rule.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #2*2*7*6: It's Summer, why is there MATHS?!

I push the speed limit at 7 or 8 miles over it.. Other than that not much of a dangerous driver. Went through a small period of time where I would text while I drove and realized how stupid that is and have improved greatly on that.

Goldy, when's the last time you didn't drive 5 under the speed limit?;)
