Good Morning Lodge.

Just curious if anyone has ever seen a paternoster, a type of elevator that is more like a continuously moving Ferris wheel in two shafts. The topic came up in my German class on Saturday as there are still many in use in Germany.

Gee, I wonder why those haven't caught on more around here? Looks very efficient and I can't foresee any problems with them...

other than the occasional lost limb...

Hey Lodge.

Went to good friend's bachelor party Saturday. Went shooting in the morning (trap and sporting clays), I hadn't shot clays in about 4 years, and I really didn't suck like I should. I shot a 16 on trap and 14 on sporting. I was told that I should go out and shoot regularly with some of the guys, I'm thinking of taking them up on the offer. I'd have to pick up either a bird barrel for the Weatherby, or a find a decent over/under .12 gauge though, I don't like the pump for sporting clays.

The rest of bachelor part consisted of drinking beer, eating steak, drinking whisky, and about 15 guys drinking way too much. It was a helluva good time.

So I've been getting these phone calls from a nurse claiming to be with United Healthcare. She knew that I'd recently had a surgery, and that she was looking to coordinate some care with me, and so on. I tell her that I'm confused, that my insurance is through another company, and she then responds that it's a service provided by my employer. We go back and forth on this a few times, and I then tell her that I'm checking with my HR department to see what's the deal. After speaking with HR, they have no idea why United Health is contacting me, that my company has no contracts with that insurer. I need to figure out what's going on here. I did some Google searches on the number used to call me, and they're not positive (not surprisingly).

Now I want to know how UNH got my number, and what they think their business is with me. The way I see it is that they could have been given my information from one of my healthcare providers, or they're connected to USA Hockey's insurance program (my injury occurred on the rink during a USA Hockey affiliated adult game).

So the number checks out at United Health? I would think its just a scam and they screwed up using United Health?

Officially, all I can find is that it's a landline from the 952 area code - and UNH is located here, so that makes sense. The woman/nurse identified herself as United Health, and a few others on those phone number snooping-reporting sites have all said it's a United Health nurse, but they're hardly official.

Should the woman call back, I'm going to tell her that my employer knows nothing of this arrangement she claims, and that I've never initiated any contact with United Healthcare. Unless documentation can be provided, I will tell her to no longer call me. I'm not going to get myself into a potential scam.

You could also look up United Healthcare's number and try calling them directly to see what the deal is, too.

Call the ortho that did the surgery or the hospital. A lot of the hospitals/surgeons have to meet certain guidelines to get full reimbursement. Or probably the most direct call United HC and ask them what the poop is, that you have googled the # and it isn't favorable.

United Healthcare is a behemoth and has about a zillion phone numbers. It's a major undertaking to figure out who sicced her on him.

That's the thing, I don't know why the orthopedic would contact United. My insurance is a completely unrelated company. And the reviews I've read is that these people just don't stop calling.

If they won't stop calling, start ****ing with them when they call.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #2*2*7*6: It's Summer, why is there MATHS?!

Just got back to my room after being in a confernce all day. Heard some interesting things, and two sessions were painfully boring. One of them I thought would be the most interesting of the day. Unfortunately, I was too thrown by their presentation in which they had an extra space between every apostrophe and the letter s. So it was it' s and so on. It was driving me nuts, so much so that when it came time to ask questions, I almost asked if they knew how incorrect that was. Also, the woman who was part of the presentation team didn't quite get the concept of how a microphone worked. She had one of the clip on ones initially and that didn't work so they game her a hand held one and never held it close enough to her mouth so you could hear her.

If the hosp has measure they need to meet it cues up all sorts of garbage. You can try call ing the hosp and say someone has given out your number to an uninvolved insurance co. HIPA is big bucks. That will get their attn. You threaten to call the state insurance commission and they will pay attn.

Mr is currently fighting the hosp. He had labs as part of a preventative thing. They charged him. He challenged because prevention should be free. They rebilled every test separately and they charged him even more. He now has 3 different numbers they say he owes them. He is slowly working his way up the food chain. They picked the wrong person to dick with. Doing medical bill stuff is part of what he does at work.

Boss was in an Abominable Snowman mood this morning. I can sympathize, he gets handed all the sh1t projects no one knows how to manage, so they just assume it's a Quality & Process project .

I used to love working for this company, but they are growing recklessly, in my opinion. It's taking a toll on everyone's work/life balance.

Had a weekend up in Houghton figuring out wedding stuff. Was great to get out of town and enjoy a different area. Took a new way home, which was fun. I always enjoy going on new roads.

Thanks, this is helpful.

Please do this. I've always wanted to mess with someone trying a prank.
I've done this before. I strung the woman along for a long time, some 30 minutes, made me think the price of what she was selling was really steep.
