Good Morning Lodge!

Its the weeeeeeekend!

They promised HHH all week and somehow we never saw it. Humid but I think it hit 80 one time. That's OK by me. Supposed to get HHH again this week and the remnants of Flo coming thru. We will see.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 197: Hot! Hot! Hot!

Great time at the beer festival. Way too hot, though, and *I* am saying that.

Talked with a few breweries about their beers, and 2 of them asked me, "Wait, are you The Rube?"* :o Yes, I am. That was weird, in a good way, I suppose. They loved me, and even got a sample of a beer that was being specially tapped at a later time, which was a nice bonus. :D

*I am The Rube on the tweeter machine, and follow/comment on many a brewery.

Holy **** it was too **** hot for an outdoor wedding/reception today. But, we survived. Drank plenty of beers to get through it. Row The Boat.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 197: Hot! Hot! Hot!

People really do attend soccer games. When I returned from bike riding a few hours ago, there were a lot of people walking down my street, much more than I had ever seen. It turns out they were walking to the nearest Metro station to the new soccer stadium. The station is one block from where I live.

Fooooooootballlllll!!

Good Evening Lodge! It is finally as hot as they said it would be. Feels worse because it is awfully humid.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 197: Hot! Hot! Hot!

Evening, Lodge. While the result wasn't the best, that was an entertaining MN-GB game to watch. Hung out at the corner store to watch the game, it was like watching at home with friends, since 75% of the people there were semi-regulars, staff, or staff that came in on their day off. It really is a Cheers-type place, where everyone knows your name.

This should be my last 5-day week for quite a while. Had to burn a bunch of PTO days, so took random Mons or Fris off for the rest of the year (minus holiday weeks, like T-Day/Christmas).

Oy. I’m expecting my flight home to be delayed. I hope not, though.

Back from the Emmys. Looooong day. Fun! Especially towards the end. Looking forward to actually watching the show when I get home.

I assume that means that someone did turn on your DVR for you.

Between 1990 and 1992 I was on a detail at the ONR. That job involved traveling at least one week a month. They wanted me to stay there and offered me a position. One reason that I did not accept it was the aggravation associated with travel, and it was not nearly as aggravating back then as it is now since, for example, there was no security screening.

But there was the opening scene to Airplane!. Hari Krishnas. :D
