Hey, I know Massachusetts legalized the green and all, but I figured that didn't take effect until next year. :D

practicing... :D

Nowhere to get it yet. When it is legal I wouldn't want to be working at an ER!

Denver isn't even really in the mountains. That's the funny part. :D

Mother Nature is a whore. 2 degrees, -1 degree, ok here's 18 degrees but you also get 10" of snow, then I'm gonna follow it up with -26 low temp tomorrow night (real temp, NOT windchill). Whee.

As for windchill, I believe the coldest forecast is in Rochester MN (90 minutes south of Twin Cities) at -50.

For comparison, current temperature in Barrow, Alaska: 20. Forecast high tomorrow is 13.

That's Barrow. Not Anchorage. Not Nome. BARROW. Northernmost city in the United States. 71 degrees north latitude. Technically above the Arctic Circle. The sun set in Barrow on November 18 and will not rise again until January 22.

Good evening Lodge. Had a lovely night tonight, met up with some old friends from high school tonight. One of them is an artist and there was a holiday stroll in the part of South Boston that's an artists community. All the galleries were open. Cool stuff. Then we went to dinner and then we walked over to the Boaton Tea Party Museum. They staged a re-enactment at 8pm. Quick and fun. A part of country's history, and it was right there. I found that a bit fascinating.

Cold tonight, and it's supposed to be gross snow tomorrow.

This is why MN people are the way they are. The temp range is insane. With heat index/windchill, there can be 160+ degree change within a year.

Technically above the Arctic Circle? More like 320 miles above it. Twitch, this isn't Fort Yukon or Coldfoot. And Barrow IS on the shore of the Arctic Ocean, so the climate is a touch mitigated by that.

But you know this. ;)

Vera's sister lives in Kotzebue and is laughing at our forecast. Humbug.

Yeah, that's why I avoid Anchorage for these comparisons. That's cheating.

Still, it's farking Barrow. Or Utqiagvik. Can't get much more brutal positioning in the US than that.

...Siberia?

It's cold out. Had a nice evening at a holiday party with fellow Gopher hockey fans. Hadn't seen some of them in quite a while. You know you're getting older when you hear a comment like "Oh man, getting a snowblower was a great decision, it's so liberating! No more shoveling for this guy!" :o

Date nite with the girlfriend today. Went to Conor O'neills today and actually ended up trying brussel sprouts today for the first time. Didn't really plan on trying them, but they were the veggie of the day and we didn't really ask about what that was until it showed up on our plates. wasn't that bad actually, other than the fact that whenever I burp I'm tasting them again.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

Evening, Lodge. Dunno what to expect at work this week. The last 2 weeks of the year are always a mystery given the holidays, weather, AND end-of-year/quarter stuff. Had a nice dinner today with aunt/uncle who came up from Rochester (MN, you easterners!). Kind of a pre-Christmas, since my cousin is coming in from NC next weekend, so aunt's relatives will be coming in from WI. The family is having the "real" Christmas next weekend, just a small thing.

Just realized that not much of the family bloodline is left. Kind of odd, considering I grew up with 3 great grand-parents, and all grandparents until I was almost out of high school. Makes you treasure your family even more during the holidays. :)
