Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

Stupid work. Stupid miscalculation of cavaction. Stupid meetings scheduled all day.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

Howdy Lodge. It's Tuesday. The T's overall ineptitude today caused me to wait on a freezing cold platform causing me to be late to work. Got to work, saw an email chain from my friends about booking the hotel in Chicago that was done without any input from me. Planned to meet a co-worker who is out on maternity leave for lunch with the rest of my team, just had a chat with my team and apparently they all have too many errands, etc. to spend time eating lunch. Which is all well and good but I re-scheduled a meeting and did not bring my lunch in specifically because of this get together today. I wasn't even involved in scheduling it. Pain in the.......

So, as I said....Tuesday. Tuesdays suck.

See- math is bad.

Good Morning Lodge!

Or is it simply being bad at math is bad?

I did a forum search for TRP and didn't get a single result.

The right side of a boat or ship is called the starboard because starboard became shorthand for steering board. Since most people are right handed, the steering board in ancient times was located on the right hand side of the ship. And the left side became known as the port side because that's the side upon which you would come into port so as not to ruin your steering board.

Totally random factoid for the day.

I have learned 3 things today from the internet- What a tape out is, that there are places in Ontario that are gardening zone 6 and now this. The day is still young!

Yikes. Have in-laws that were over in that neck of the woods. Things were interesting them because they were Americans. Now- I wouldn't take a job anywhere in that area. tD is busy pi55ing them all off and I imagine it is going to get verrrrry uncomfortable over there for US folk.

Ummm, not exactly.

Kuwait is an oil country. Which means Donald being president, and not pushing more towards green energy, and continuing the oil burning is good for them.

It isn't the economic stuff that got the in-law types worried, it was the social and political stuff. There is a certain etiquette the gubmints in that region follow (according to the in-law types). They were there when Baby Bush was in and did not follow it. It was ...uncomfortable... for them. There were moments of anxiety because gubmint pretty much has free reign and they were a tad anxious they might do something that would be used as an excuse to make things difficult. They ended up leaving as soon as they could. They said the $ weren't worth it (it was biiiig $$).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

I am almost done with my Christmas shopping. One last gift to buy isn't needed till 12/30, so that's helpful. My brother is buying my gift to my parents. We're each getting them a half season lottery ticket - one for Powerball, one for Mega Millions. They have repeatedly said don't get gifts. But this is something they will like.....with the chance of a much bigger prize!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

Christmas shopping has to be the most grating, annoying, aggravating waste of time task there is. I spent 45 minutes trying to find some gift for my dad that my mom said he wanted, at Menards. Even Menards was ****ty. I was very close to walking out and giving him a 100 in an envelope. What a ****ing racket.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

3 gifts to go. 2 of which are gift cards, one may require some cloak-and-dagger stuff from my dad. We're in range now.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

I don't do gifts (accept nor give); kids are the exception. Sick of the commercialism of the holiday. Have been this way for a few years now. I tell family to give to an organization that provides kids with toys. Make their Christmas a happy one. That being said, my nieces only are listing stuff like Beats By Dre, iPads, etc. Um, not gonna happen. :P So, still waiting on my bro to get info (he is in the same boat I am). Worst comes to worst, they are getting gift cards from the local bookstore or Target (which they do like getting).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #188: Hockey Is The Real Politics

My wanting to give gifts has nothing to do with the commercialism of the holiday. The holidays are what you make of them.

I give because I love my family and want them to be happy. My mom can't afford the really nice things in life so I want to give her these opportunities.
