Re: Rep Retirement Lodge #186: Summer Heat
I probably spend way more time at work than I should here and on Facebook and Twitter, but it actually paid off for me yesterday. We are having a two-week long viewing party during the Games in our cafeteria. Bringing in monitors, giving out stuff, having a raffle, etc. all during lunch. For about two months, I've been reaching out to the USOC to get me the overall broadcast schedule so we can share that with the employees so they will know what's on when they come to eat. Getting nothing from them. they said it's all on NBC. Well, could you reach out to them or give me a name to call? I have stuff I need to produce. So yesterday during lunch I was on Twitter and I see a tweet from NBC Olympics (whose site I check daily to see if it's posted) that says something like "Check out what to watch every day!" I click on it, it goes to the NBCSN site, there's a story that lists out daily what will be on but after reading it, I determine it's just what's on regular NBC, not any of the other networks carrying most of the coverage. So I reply to the tweet "When is the rest of the schedule going to be released?" About an hour later, some random guy tweets me a "Press Box" link on NBCOlympics.com with the entire schedule. Awesome! The power of social media! Now we can get the last two print pieces in the works.
And before you ask, we cannot live stream in the cafeteria, we have two cable boxes.
